Vijayawada city police filed cases against nine people including former Congress MLA Malladi Vishnu in connection with spurious liquor-death cases. He was named as 9th accused in this case. Malladi Vishnu has been arguing that he has nothing to do with the Swarna Bar and Restaurant, where five persons died on the spot after consuming spurious liquor. He admits that Swarna Bar belongs to his relative but arguing that he is not owner or partner in it.

 

Excise Commissioner MK Meena orders for closure of all bars and liquor shops today in the district and sent teams for inspection in bars and liquor godowns. He imposed ban on ‘Officer’s Choice’ brand liquor as excise officials are suspecting the deaths were caused because of the particular brand alcohol. Excise department is also searching in the districts to find out spurious liquor manufacturing if any. Police teams are also conducting investigation to find out the actual reason and culprits of this tragic incident.
