SC to take-up Bifurcation petitions today

In a quite coincidence, Supreme Court will take-up the petitions filed by TDP leader Payyavula Keshav and others opposing bifurcation of the state today, while GoM is holding its final meetings with both regional union ministers and CM Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Earlier, when the court takes-up the case, it opined that it need enough time to study the case because of the complexities involved in it and adjourned the case to 18th November, that is today.

While, the GoM is intended to clear the road-blocks in bifurcation, Supreme Court has to decide whether to allow the Centre go ahead or not. If, Supreme Court thinks otherwise, then the T-battle will shift from Centre to Supreme Court, which may be a painstaking one. The petitioners argue that the whole process is being carried out unconstitutional, so sought apex court’s intervention.

Since, they raise legal points in their petitions, Supreme Court may serve notices to Centre asking for its explanation in this regard, while adjourning the case to some other date. If so, it may provide enough time to Centre to take-ahead the bifurcation process.
