PoK belongs to Pakistan: Farooq Abdullah

Former Union Minister and Jammu & Kashmir former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has made a controversial statement today.

He said “India has been arguing that PoK belongs to it. But, it remained with Pakistan until now and it will remain with it forever. Hence, India should stop making claims on PoK. Jammu & Kashmir state belongs to India and PoK to Pakistan. India should initiate a peace dialogue for resolving other long pending issues between the two countries. Problems can’t be resolved with wars. If wars can resolve the problems, then we have already fought wars earlier. But, problems were not solved. So, India and Pakistan should resolve their problems through peaceful dialogue.”

Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh strongly objected Farooq Abudllah’s statement. He said “Indian Government had made it stand clear on PoK. We are thinking on how to retrieving the occupied Kashmir from Pakistan’s illegal clutches. We have passed a resolution in the parliament in 1994 stating that if there is any problem between two countries regarding J&K State, it is PoK and its illegal occupation by Pakistan for the last 6 decades.”
