Nara Lokesh has praised the trailer of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Ranabaali, particularly appreciating its recreation of 19th-century Rayalaseema and its depiction of famine and oppression under British rule. His comments drew responses from the film’s lead actors and production house Mythri Movie Makers.
Set against the backdrop of the Great Madras Famine of 1876–78, Ranabaali explores a period marked by hunger, colonial exploitation and resistance. The trailer showcases the suffering of people in Rayalaseema and the rise of a local warrior who takes on British oppression. The production design recreates the period through village settings, colonial-era environments, costumes and large-scale action sequences, aiming to bring this lesser-known chapter of history to the screen. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the film features Vijay as Ranabaali, Rashmika as Jayamma and Arnold Vosloo as the British antagonist Sir Theodore Hector.
Sharing his appreciation, Nara Lokesh wrote: “Just saw the trailer of #Ranabali and wow, what an immersive experience! The detailing in recreating 1800s Rayalaseema and capturing that heart-wrenching era of British-era famine and oppression is phenomenal. @TheDeverakonda looks effortlessly fierce and completely at home in the soil of Seema, brilliantly anchored by @iamRashmika. Kudos to @Rahul_Sankrityn and the entire team for bringing such a powerful, untold chapter of history to life. Wishing you all huge success on October 16!”
Mythri Movie Makers thanked him, saying, “Thank you, @naralokesh Garu, for your appreciation of the #RanabaaliTrailer. It means a lot to us. We’ve put our hearts into bringing this story to life, and we hope it resonates with everyone.”
