
Veteran actor Nana Patekar has passed away at the age of 75. The acclaimed actor died on Thursday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa. According to reports, he was found unconscious and rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him with CPR for nearly 45 minutes. He was declared dead at 5:20 AM. A medico-legal case has been registered and a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.
Born Vishwanath Patekar on January 1, 1951, in Murud-Janjira, Maharashtra, Nana Patekar began his film career with Gaman in 1978. He went on to establish himself as one of Indian cinema's most distinctive performers, delivering acclaimed performances in films including Parinda, Prahaar: The Final Attack, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Khamoshi: The Musical, Ab Tak Chhappan, Natsamrat and Raajneeti.

Patekar's contribution to cinema was recognised with three National Film Awards, including Best Actor for Krantiveer and Best Supporting Actor awards for Parinda and Agni Sakshi. He also won four Filmfare Awards and two Filmfare Awards Marathi. In 2013, he was honoured with the Padma Shri for his contribution to the arts.
Beyond acting, Patekar also worked as a director, writer and producer. He made his directorial debut with Prahaar: The Final Attack and earned further acclaim for his Marathi work, particularly Natsamrat. He was also associated with the Territorial Army and held the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel after undergoing military training for Prahaar. His versatility, distinctive dialogue delivery and intense screen presence made him one of the most respected actors of his generation.
