The Delhi Police had served individual summons on these leaders on August 2 asking them to appear before them within five days on various charges, including under the SC/ ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Sources said each of the leaders was questioned separately and the leaders spent close to three hours at the Tilak Marg police station giving clarifications as sought by the investigation officer. These leaders were asked whether the attack was "premeditated" or "spontaneous".

They were asked to come down in the future as and when the need arose for further clarifications related to the case. "We have given written statements on the sequence of events that unfolded on that day," Rajender said.
