Plea in SC to ban WhatsApp for security reasons

A petition has been made in the Supreme Court that the messaging application WhatsApp be banned for security reasons. In the plea that the petitioner made and which would be heard by the Apex court on next Wednesday, says that, the ban must be made on the ground that the messaging platform's end-to-end encryption gives terrorists a means of communication that is impossible to intercept.

The petitioner said that even WhatsApp would fail to break through an individual's message to hand over the data to the government when needed as it does not have the decryption keys either.
