NIA given charge of Maoists attack case

Fumed with the Maoists’ deadly attack on the Chattisgarh Congress leaders Central government has determined to handle the Maoists with firm hand. It handovers the investigating responsibilities to National Investigating Agency (NIA) and also sending 2000 paramilitary personals in addition to the 1,000 pressed into combing operations in the dense forests that spreads between Chattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.
Mahendra Karma, the former home minister of Chattisgarh and the one who developed the ‘Salwajudum’ team to fight out Maoists was the prime target of Maoists. He was died on spot as he was pumped with 80 bullets into his body by the Maoists. His funerals was performed at his native village in Parasapal in Dhantewada district in Chattisgarh on Monday.
AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Chattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, state home minister Nankiram Kanwar, and several others leaders from state and central governments have attended the funerals of PCC president Nandakumar Patel and his son Dinesh Patel, who were brutally killed by the Maoists. Their funerals were performed at their native village Nandeli in Raigad district on yesterday. Former union minister VC Shukla, who also sustain bullet injuries is still in critical condition.
