Movie Theaters association of the state has announced a hike in ticket prices with effect from coming Tuesday. It declares Rs.10 ticket will be increased to 25 and Rs.50 ticket will costs Rs.75. High Court also said to be approved the high power committee recommendations on the ticket hike. A formal notification may come from government in a day or two in this regard.
However, movie lovers argue that the ticket fares were already too high to afford. The latest increase of the ticket prices will stop them frequently visiting the theaters. Some alleges that, even if they want to buy the tickets, they are not available in booking counters but easily available in block market, at double or triple price of the actual cost of the ticket. In such case, even block ticket prices also will shot high, opined a movie buff. A movie watcher in city flays the decision. He said the multiplex tickets have already crossed Rs.150 mark long ago, and the latest hike will inspire the multiplex owners follow the path, with which audiences like him will be deprived of watching movies.
