Today, Supreme Court takes-up the petition filed by AP and Telangana medical colleges challenging Medical Counsel’s decision of canceling around 1,000 medical seats in both states due to lack of proper infrastructure in the colleges. The apex court has agreed to issue an order to Medical Counsel to allow them fill 1000 seats, but with a condition. The court asks the medical colleges to submit a bank guarantee for Rs.10 crores each along with an assurance letter to arrange necessary infrastructure. The apex court warned the colleges that, their bank guarantees will be seized in case if they fail to provide prescribed infrastructure in the colleges. It is learnt the medical colleges have agreed to apex court proposal. So, around 1000 medical seats will be available in both states.
