Culture of Statues

                                                                                     With the Modi Government allocating 200 Crore for the statue of Sardar Patel to come at Gujarat received a lot of flak. Now the Trinamool Party leaders and some of the BJP MP’s  are making  demanding for  a statue for Swami Vivekananda to come up at Kolkata.   The government's announcement on the Patel statue had attracted severe criticism both from political circles and the public as allocations for several other important schemes such as women's safety in cities and 'BetiBachao, BetiPadhao' scheme were seen to be far less and insufficient.   We are unable to understand as to why the government has to spend Rs.200 crore on a statue, if the statue is called as symbol of unity. Take for example the Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial at KanyaKumari – it was built without the support of the government and a sum of only Rs 1 was collected from the  people of India under the  aegis of Shri Eknath Ranade and built.   The concept of Statues should not become an ego issue and it would be more befitting if we follow the teachings and ideas of these great people of the country. If we think that the system of getting statues erected has started from the culture of worshiping the idols then we need to rethink it over. If we cannot respect somebody without seeing the statue, then it is OK but do we need to spend so much.And we still haven’t forgotten about the rotting statues of Mayawathi and Y S Rajasekhar Reddy still waiting to be consecrated.                                                                              #statueforstatue Tweets !function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=/^http:/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+"://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");                                                                            iframe[id^='twitter-widget-']{ width:100% !important;}

AAP crossing swords with Congress and BJP

  AAP crossing swords with Congress and BJP People of New Delhi are delighted to watch the cat fights between AAP, BJP and Congress party over forming the Delhi government. Kejriwal alleges that BJP is indulged in horse trading. “BJP is buying Congress MLAs paying each Rs.6 crore after it fails to lure our party MLAs,” tweets Kejriwal.   He also sought appointment of Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to convince him not to invite BJP to form the government. He tweets “Is it fair to invite BJP that is refused to form the government earlier, which has enough numbers? If the governor invites it to form the government will it be fair? Isn’t it indicates that he is partisan towards BJP?”   BJP MLAs after conducting a meeting at party office in Delhi, decided to wait for Modi return home from Brazil today before going ahead with their proposal. They expect Modi give them nod for forming the government, but party sources saying that he may opt for fresh elections instead of taking Congress support.   In the meantime, people of New Delhi Assembly constituency woke up to see the wall posters of ‘Arvind Kejriwal Missing.’ It was written on the posters that whoever finds him will be suitably rewarded. Obviously, it irks Arvind Kejriwal, who suspects that it is handy work of Congress or BJP. But, it came to know that Resident Welfare Associations of Gol Market and Kali Badi have put the posters, who are fuming on him and his party for not fulfilling the elections’ promises.

Jagan pretends unaware of relief measures taken by government?

    YCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy’s hatred towards TDP President Chandrababu Naidu is not a big secret. He grabs every opportunity to sling mud on him in a bid to defame him. Two days ago he went to Saluru in Vizianagaram district to soothe the bereaved family members of Chennai tragic incident. Later speaking to the media, he flayed CM Chandrababu Naidu and his government for not helping the victim’s family. He demands the government to pay ex gratia to the victims’ family members.   But, it is very surprising to see him unaware of the fact that CM Chandrababu Naidu immediately announces Rs. 5 lakh ex gratia to the deceased family members and Rs. 50,000 to injured persons. Besides government officials from Nellore was sent to the accident spot on the same day, Kimidi Mrunalini, Minister for Rural Development, Housing and Sanitation was also sent to the accident spot immediately for supervising e the relief operations and coordinating with Tamilnadu government officials. CM Chandrababu also personally called upon Tamilnadu CM Jayalalitha and sought her help for getting additional compensation from the builder, for which she immediately agreed.   However, Jagan Mohan Reddy despite having a powerful media in hand and big political network in both states speaks as if he is really unaware of these developments. He would realized about these relief works and ex gratia even while talking to victim’s family members, but he conveniently ignored the fact and slings mud on his darling enemy Chandrababu Naidu pretending as if is unaware of relief measure and compensation announced by the state government. He tried to sling mud on Chandrababu but it boomerangs at him.

Will China ever change its attitude toward India?

  Bilateral relations between neighboring countries or states have always been remained mere diplomatic affair. Though, the partner countries always describe their meetings very successful, they never improved the situation during last 60 years. However, they at least ensures some peace for both the countries, otherwise many wars would have occurred.   India has always been troubling with its neighbors China and Pakistan on boarder disputes. Both these countries adopt different strategies to trouble India. While, Pakistan has been supporting terrorists’ attacks on the Indian soil, China has been trying to invade into India’s territory. They both also join hands to trouble their common enemy India. However, the Congress lead UPA government has never considered or handled these issues seriously. It always tried to downplay the issues instead of trying to resolve them. As a result, China and Pakistan both countries treat India as a coward and continue their war games with the country.   However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who met Chinese President Xi JinPing during BRICS convention being held at Brazil, straightaway talked about this boarder disputes, instead of beating the bush. Modi suggests him that unless these boarder disputes are amicably resolved, both countries can’t focus on the development activities. He asked the Chinese President to take initiative on this serious issue and promised him that Indian government will also come forward a step to resolve the issues permanently. The way Narendra Modi made his point clear, it impresses the Chinese President. Their meeting, which is supposed to end in 40 minutes, was continued for 80 minutes. Later, Chinese President invited to Asia Pacific Countries’ meeting to be held in China in November this year.   So, seeing these developments, people of the country can expect some positive change in Chinese attitude toward India in the days to come. If not, India also should change its attitude toward China accordingly.

Rahul wakes-up to question Ved Pratap meeting with terrorist

  Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi may fails to wake up, while parliament is debating on Polavaram issue, but he wakes up to talk about the meeting between Pakistani terrorist Hafiz Saeed and the journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik, whom he claims as RSS activist.   Ved Pratap accompanied by few other journalists and politicians has visited Pakistan on July 2nd, but he alone meets Hafiz Saeed, the chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, the most wanted terrorist in the world. They had a one-and-half hour long meeting but, Ved Pratap not disclose the details of their meeting until now. Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, talks in his support because he is also a close follower of him. All this makes many eye brows raise with suspicion.   Rahul Gandhi demands the NDA government to explain the reason for their meeting and on whose behalf Ved Pratap has met the terrorist. He asked the government whether the Indian High Commission in Islamabad had facilitated the meeting between them. Congress creates havoc in parliament over this issue. It demands the NDA government to disclose the details of their meeting immediately.   However, NDA government disowned Ved Pratap Vaidik and his meeting with the terrorist. NDA government declared it has nothing to do with his meeting. Ram Madhav, who recently joined BJP as its general secretary responding to Rahul Gandhi’s question about Ved Pratap’s identity said that he doesn’t, belongs to RSS or BJP, but actually he close moves with Congress leaders and journalists. He said if India ever finds chance to catch the terrorist, it will treat him as criminal as per Indian laws.   Ved Pratap speaking to the media said “I frequently make rounds in Asian countries and often meets all small and big leaders of the countries to gather news as a part of my profession. This is also just an ordinary meeting and nothing else. None of the governments have asked me to represent them before the terrorist and neither is I working for any government.”

Jairam Ramesh comes to media focus again

    Former union minister Jairam Ramesh has suddenly catches the media attention for arguing in favor of Polavaram Project in Rajyasabha yesterday. While his T-Congress MPs are arguing against it, he strongly defended the bill and also confirmed that each and every line including comas and full stops were made by UPA government with full knowledge keeping in view of its larger interests. Home Minister Rajnath Singh couldn’t stop himself from appreciating him in the house for supporting the bill.   Earlier, Jairam Ramesh was seen as hero of Telangana and villain for AP for he played key role in dividing the state and Telangana state creation. But, the scene is reversed now with his arguments made in favor of Polavaram. He becomes the villain of Telangana, but people of Andhra are still not ready to forgive him and his Congress party.   The big dilemma or double standards maintained by the Congress leaders over this issue is going to adversely effect on their political career, whereas they planned to get some political mileage out of this issue in both states. Telangana people may not believe that T-Congress leaders are honest with their fight because they couldn’t convince or stop their high command from supporting the bill.   People of Andhra won’t believe the Congress leaders because comparatively their counterparts in Telangana state have made very strong arguments and also made disparate attempt to stop the project. Jairam Ramesh’s arguments in Rajyasabha can’t make the people of AP to forgive his party mistake, at the same time it makes people of Telangana fumes on the Congress leaders.   Earlier, Congress put the opposition parties in the same kind of dilemma situation during bifurcation and now it is struck with same dilemma on Polavaram issue. However, it should realize that it can’t revamp the party situation and come to power either in Andhra or Telangana or even at Centre for at least next ten years.

Rajyasabha passes Polavaram bill

  Rajyasabha has passed the amendment bill of AP reorganization bill on Polavaram a short while ago with voice vote. T-Congress and TRS members strongly opposed the bill, but Jairam Ramesh, AP Congress MPs and BJP members argued in support of the bill.   TRS MP K Keshav rao and T-Congress MPs V Hanumantha rao and Palwai Govardhan Reddy have strongly objected the amendment that allows merger of seven mandals of Kammam district with AP. They demand the government to change the design and reduce the height of the dam so as to prevent hundreds of villages and towns submerging under the project. Palwai argued that if few barrages are constructed, they can serve the same purpose of a large dam.   T-Congress MP MA Khan argued that if the dam is constructed in the present design even the holy Ram temple in Bhadrachalam will submerge under it. He asked the Home Minister whether the BJP which always talks about constructing ram temple in Ayodya will let Bhadrachalam submerge under the project?   Most of the members argued against the project have stressed for change of design, revoke the ordinance and take all the three states into consideration before going ahead with the project.   Home Minister Rajnath Singh appreciates Jairam Ramesh for doing a healthy debate on the bill. Home Minister honestly agreed that Jairam Ramesh has more knowledge about the project and related issues than him.   Replying to memers's concern for tribal rehabilitation, he said that his government is also as much concerned as the members about the welfare of the tribal going to be displaced under the project. He said that his government will do everything for rehabilitating the tribal and will also try to minimize the submerging area.   Finally, the resolution moved by K Keshav rao was rejected and the bill moved by Home Minister Rajnath Singh was passed with voice vote.

Congress leaders, different stands on Polavaram

Congress leaders are taking different stands on Polavaram issue. While the T-Congress leaders are strongly opposing the bill, AP state Co0ngress leaders are not making any noise on the issue, don’t know why.   Former Union Minister Kavuri Sambhasiva rao, who later jumps into BJP is the only person, who spoke on this issue. He stated that Congress party has pushed this matter forward with AP reorganization bill-2014 and the ordinance that was shelved later.   V Hanumantha rao, a Rajyasabha member argues that his party has planned to merge only a handful of villages and not seven mandals. Hence, they should oppose the bill in Rajyasabha.   Another former Union Minister Jaipal Reddy of UPA government, strongly condemns NDA government’s move that was initiated by his own party and own government before. He argues it is totally un constitutional, un democratic and against people wishes.   However, another former Union Minister of UPA government, Jairam Ramesh, who played key role in bifurcation, endorsing Kavuri statement, said “Congress party has added Polavaram Project in bifurcation bill because it was a long standing demand of people of AP. If, the project is completed it will provide irrigation water to 7 lakhs acres and also helps to produce 960 mw power. It also provides drinking water to many districts. That is why our government has declared it as a national project and prepared ordinance for merger. But, before going ahead with this project, first the government has to rehabilitate around 45, 000 families living in seven mandals that are going to submerge under the project. Hence, it is our duty to support Polavaram bill and ensure get it passed in the Rajyasabha.”   Another former Union Minister of UPA government also agrees with Jairam Ramesh’s arguments and he also appeals his T-Congress MPs not to create embarrassment to their high command by opposing the bill.   However, T-Congress leaders seem to be not in a mood to take orders from their high command in the prevailing situation, because they found this as a rare opportunity to get the people and media focus. But, the question is will they get any political mileage out of this issue at all?
