Supreme Court rejects T-government plea

  As predicted, Supreme Court has turned down Telangana government’s plea for extending time to conduct engineering admissions. The apex court orders AP and Telangana governments to complete the counseling process before end of August month and begin classes from September 1st week. The court suggested Telangana government not to divide the students on regional basis and also warns that it will not allow governments to divide the students on nativity base. The division bench comprising Justice NA Babde and NJ Mukopadyay said every student should have equal opportunity for pursuing higher education irrespective of their region.   The court also made it clear that admission process should be made as per the existing laws and Presidential orders. Responding to Telangana government’s council Harish Salwe’s arguments of reimbursing fees only to Telangana students, the bench suggested that fees reimbursement matter can be sorted out in a later period. Telangana government, which is averse to join the admission process by AP higher education council, has agreed after the apex court rejects its plea for extension. Hence, the engineering counseling in AP and Telangana states will be held as per the schedule announced.

Outgoing Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva plans to release her autobiography soon, where she will describe her 45 years journey in the field of politics and her experiences in public life. 72-year-old Margret Alva, who completed her tenure as Rajasthan Governor today, says the book will be about how she got into public life at a time when women were not welcomed in politics.She was however quick to clarify that this book was not intended to create a controversy or grab headlines like Congress veteran Natwar Singh's autobiography One Life is Not Enough  and it would take more than 4 to 5 months to complete the book.She has also declared that her election phase was over and has not thought about returning to active politics and will do what the High Command says.

Magnitude of 5.3 Earthquake hits Johannesburg

Just two days after the massive earthquake in China which has left more than 400 people dead , an earthquake measuring 5.3  on the Richter scale  has shaken buildings in Johannesburg and surrounding areas in South Africa. There are no immediate reports of casualties following the earthquake today, wherein the tremors were also felt in the regions of Pretoria and Hartbeespoort, a nearby resort town. The USGS said the quake was centered in Orkney, 105 miles southwest of Johannesburg.Quakes are a concern to the ecologists as  there are mining companies that operate around Johannesburg area.

No postponement for Mandal elections- HC

The Hyderabad High Court on Monday when dealing with a PIL filed by V. Narayan Rao, former MPTC member of Konijerla mandal  which had come for hearing has refused to postpone the elections to the posts of Mandal Parishads Presidents and Khammam Zilla Parishad Chairman post which has been  scheduled to be conducted on Wednesday. In the Public Interest Litigation which was seeking to retain earlier reservations for the Presidents of Mandal Parishads and Chairman of Zilla Parishad of Khammam district was not proper even after the issuance of AP Reorganisation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2014, which allowed transfer of seven mandals in Khammam district of Telangana state to the residuary state of AP.

KCR will address media at 7PM today

TRS President KCR visited Karimnagar district for the first time after becoming the Chief Minister of Telangana state. He received a grand welcome from TRS MLAs Rasamai Bala Kishan and V Satish, TRS activists and people from the district. A big rally was held from the Gandhi statue to the Collector’s office ,where people from all over the district gathered at Karimnagar city, in big numbers to attend the rally. The city was fully crowded on this occasionwhere the Chief Minister will be participating in various programmes pertaining to public health, municipal administration, R&B and other departments. The Sikh Community in Karimnagar accorded him a traditional welcome and presented him with a sword. It is said that the Chief Minister wants to launch a  comprehensive development of districts starting from Karimnagar as he knows every inch of Karimnagar district and what is required for its progress. He will address the media at 7 PM in the evening today at Karimnager and share his plans and ideas for the development of the district.

Clarification sought for re-registration of number plates

A petition filed by one Rammohan Chowdary, a resident of Hyderabad, challenging the GO issued by the government on July 17, where it asked all vehicle owners in the state of Telangana to change their number plates from the AP to TS through a process of re-registration. The petition which came up for hearing at the High Court on Monday at a Division Bench comprising of Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar who had given one day’s time for the Government of Telangana to clarify as to what authority the government has and from was it mentioned in legal statues   in asking the car owners to go for re-registration and  explain about adding the letters TS in their labels, in place of their existing AP. This re-registration process has led to a lot of confusion among the citizens as it would mean undue delay and harassment in registration of the vehicles again. Looking at the limitations in which the Road transport officials operate in , it would be more feasible if the new vehicles be registered with the TS name and the existing vehicles  be left as they are. Meanwhile the Bench has reserved the matter for hearing on Tuesday.

Finding your way in the City of Hyderabad just got easier for bus commuters ! Rikitam Technology, a city based mobile application company has launched a new app called Findbus@Hyd which provides information on the bus numbers, routes and frequency, to the bus commuters in the city.Available for download in Android and iPhone appstores this app can help find and make a proper route plan.You can access a list of bus numbers from any bus stops, select the source and destination stops and make bus route plans so that you can easily travel in the city .The application also  lets users search for RTC buses by number, displays bus numbers plying between select stops, displays a list of bus numbers passing through bus stops and also shows buses that will stop near the user.The company has developed a tie up with the Road Transport Corporation for updated bus route information and the app is free download for helping the local commuters  and people who visit the city of Hyderabad travel hassle free.

44 Nurses from Libya arrive in Kochi

After the Iraqi crisis where 46  nurses from Tikrit were brought back to India , the first batch of 44 Keralite nurses  from  Libya arrived in Kochi from Dubai today. These nurses were working in various hospitals in Libya and out of the 58 nurses 44 of them reached the Tunisian border  from Tropili  two days ago. The second batch of 43 nurses have reached the Tunisian border yesterday.  The continuous fighting between rival military groups  in Tripoli over the past three weeks and clashes between Islamists and army in the eastern city of Benghazi has prompted several countries to evacuate their nationals and diplomatic staff.Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is leaving no stone unturned to get the nurses back safely and  has written to the External Affair Minister Mrs Susham Swaraj for facilitating the safe return of the nurses.

Golconda for Independence Day in T

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has directed Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to make arrangements to celebrate the first Independence Day after the formation of Telangana state at the Historic fort. The Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and other higher officials have  made a preliminary visit to  the site and oversee the arrangements for the flag hoisting celebrations to be conducted there. An exhibit with a tableau on the history of Telangana is also going to be displayed there. KCR has expressed his desire to conduct Independence Day celebrations at the fort henceforth, akin to how it’s done at the Red Fort in New Delhi. But looking at the space constraint and security issues and with the Army having its outpost there conducting the event there could pose several issues and the feasibility of conducting this event would be sorted only  after this event is over.  

SC for EAMCET counseling by August 31

What could seem as  a much needed relief for all the anxious parents and students who have completed their inter and EAMCET  the Supreme Court has ordered for the EAMCET counseling  to be completed by August 31st and classes should start  from the September first week. The Telangana government which has asked for time till October but the Supreme Court  expressed its  displeasure that students lives should be played with and jeopardized. The verification of certificates will be held as per the earlier announced date i.e,  on August 7th and the case has been posted for  further proceedings on August 11th.

AP Health Minister donates his Organs

Inaugurating an event on organ donation and transplantation organised by CARE hospital, the Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said he has decided to donate his organs. Underlining the need of organ donation, on 'World Organ Donation Day' Mr Srinivas appealed to people to come forward to donate organs and tissues of their kin who are brain dead and have no hopes for survival.  Speaking at the event held at Visakhapatnam , he said that the awareness about organ donation is very low in the country. Only 0.16 percent per ten lakh Indians donated their organs in the previous year. More than five lakh people are losing their lives due to shortage of organs," he said. Setting an example for others to follow the Minister has pledged his organs and said that he would make a mention of it in his will also.

Parupalli Kashyap’s Gold in CWG

A proud moment for the State of Andhra Pradesh.Hyderabad’s Parupalli Kashyap has become the first Indian male shuttler to bring home the Gold medal in 32 years at the Commonwealth games held at Glasgow. Kashyap clinched the gold with a 21-14, 11-21, 21-19 win over Derek Wong of Singapore in the finals of men's singles. Having won the first game comfortably, Kashyap faltered in the next and the world No. 22 said he became "too tense" but managed to regain his composure and went on to win the final in a close finish.

Tomatoes abused in Vadodara

With the price of Tomatoes touching Rs 100 a Kg , hasn’t deterred a certain section of high profile people from celebrating Friendship day by having a Spanish style  La Tomatina festival  in  a private farm house in the outskirts of Vadodara city. An estimated three tons of tomatoes were hurled by people from Vadodara, Surat and adjoining areas who joined together in this Friendship revelry, highly unmindful about the price of what they were throwing, squashing and playing with against each other. And the entry fee was a mere Rs 300 for this costly affair where neither the organizers nor the participants were regretful. The Chairman of the Gujarat Civil Supply Corporation and former Gujarat Minister, Mr Bhupendra Lakhawala and several civil groups have taken this event seriously and are planning to serious action against the organizers for wasting tomatoes in these tough times. It may be recollected after the release of the movie “ Zindagi Na Milege Dobara “ starring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol , where they head to Spain for a holiday and enjoy the Tomatina festival in Buneoul ,had inspired the local Hyderabad P3 circles to conduct a similar festival in 2011 , but was cancelled in the last minute as they were warned of the negative impact it would create among general public, because at that time also the tomato prices were at a high.

Add. Judge in Gwalior asked to perform item dance

An Additional Judge in Gwalior has alleged sexual harassment by a Madhya Pradesh High Court Judge and resigned as she was transferred to a remote location for not complying with an Administrative Judge in the Gwalior High Court's request for performing a song and dance item number at his home. The lady Judge has also alleged that the judge told her  that he had missed the opportunity of viewing a sexy and beautiful figure dancing on the floor and that he is desperate to see the same" a day after his "request". The Additional Judge had resigned on July 15th as she was transferred to a remote area called Sidhi as she had spurned the Judge’s indecent behavior and advances and also alleged that she was professionally targeted and transferred despite requesting not to as her daughter was having grade 12 exams. In her complaint on August 1st to the President, the Chief Justice of India and the Union law minister, she had complained that if a lady judicial officer itself is treated like this then what constitutional goals we are serving. The Chief Justice of India Mr RM Lodha has said that he has not received the complaint officially and will go through the complaint once he receives it.

May God bless my husband: Modi's wife

  Jashodaben, wife of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he deserts very long back due to unknown reasons, has come into media focus only after Congress leaders question him during elections campaigning. Though, he accepted her as his wife and also mentioned the same in his elections affidavit, later neither he nor she has spoken about their broken relationship. Although Modi abandoned her long ago, she has been praying for his good health and success all these years at Virbhadra Maharaj Temple located at Magarwada.   Jashodaben accompanied her brother Ashok Modi has come to this temple yesterday on the eve of Shravana Panchami. Later speaking to media she said “I used to visit this temple regularly for more than 15 years, while I was working as a school teacher at Palanpur village during 1980s. Later, I couldn’t visit the temple for a long time when I got transferred to Unjha. But, today I came here on the eve of Panchami to pray the god for the healthy and successful life of my husband Modi. I pray the god to give him ability to serve the people of the country. I will visit the temple for 51 times from today during this holy Shravana masa and pray the god for his good health and long life.”   Jashodaben has proved that she is a very traditional Indian woman, who honors her relationship even though her husband refuses to do so. Would he welcomes her back into his life and give her due respect, the whole world will appreciate him.

Three big names missing from media focus

  Some big names like Chiranjeevi, Kiran Kumar Reddy and Purandeswari etc. have been missing from the media focus after the elections. Chiranjeevi, who played key role in Congress party until polling date, virtually disappears into shades after verdict. Now and then he appears in the media but from different angle. He is reported to be preparing for his 150th movie soon. However, his image was badly damaged because of his dual stand on bifurcation of the state. His party's decision to divide the state has also badly effected his political career. As Congress future seems to be blink both in the state and at Centre, Chiranjeevi is planning to return to film industry to retain his lost glory and shine.He hopes that his mega image may put him back into the slot.   Former CM of united AP Kiran Kumar Reddy, who once ruled the state like king, also virtually disappears from state political scene. There were reports that he is going to join BJP, but it didn’t happen. It is learnt that he confines himself to home and has no plans to return to state politics in the near future. The fatal mistakes and wrong steps that he made till last day, virtually ruined his shining political career. He should blame himself for his present situation.   Former Union Minister Purandeswari was quite active during her term in UPA government. Though, she took a wise decision of jumping into BJP ahead of the elections and also managed to grab MP ticket, her political fate was altered with her defeat in the elections. Everyone is aware who played foul game for her defeat in the elections. Even after defeat, she could shine in the NDA government like Smiriti Irani doing, but some political forces working against her won’t let her claim that chance also. Currently, she is familiarizing herself in the new political environment, hoping one day she can retain her lost glory.

T-Survey on 19th August

  Telangana government is conducting a massive survey in all 10 districts on 19th August to gather information about the social and financial status of the people so as to identify and segregate the people who are ineligible but benefitting from various schemes announced by the state government. Telangana CM KCR has made it clear that he wants the children and people of Telangana only benefitted and not outsiders settled in Telangana. So, unlike other surveys, which continue for weeks or months, government is going to conduct a massive survey across the state for only one day on 19th August. It is clearly revealing how desperate the government is to segregate the outsiders from Telangana people. Seeing the pace of the government, one can understand that it is going to take harsh decisions drawing a line between Telangana people and rest in the state.

Chandrababu Naidu is AP brand Ambassador?

  In wake of Telangana government appointing tennis star Sania Mirza as its brand ambassador, naturally people are curious to know whom Andhra Pradesh government will appoint as its brand ambassador. But, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has surprised them by stating AP doesn’t need a brand ambassador because it is very popularly known as the major IT Centre in the country. He said people all over the world are used to see towards the state during his TDP regime in the past and will continue to recognize it in the future also because of the development going to take place in the state. Hence, he said the state doesn’t need any brand ambassador to reintroduce or promote itself among the world.   Of course, Chandrababu’s argument is correct because people all over the country are very much aware about the existence and development of Andhra Pradesh state. The state competes with Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamilnadu states in development especially in IT and Education sectors in the past. The brand image of AP may be ruined because of the agitations and unruly conditions during last ten years of congress rule, yet, the name AP carries its own brand value.   Chandrababu Naidu, who earned this brand value to the state is now become the Chief Minister again and quite fortunately, residuary AP state retains that grand image of Andhra Pradesh title. In other words, the world recognizes Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu as AP state’s brand ambassador. So, obviously the state doesn’t need any reintroduction to the world. But, the newly emerged Telangana state has to promote itself among the country and world. So, it needs a popular face like Sania Mirza to introduce it to the country and world. Even today, people across the country don’t know the emergence of Telangana as the 29th state in the country. So is Telangana government has asked the media to mention it as Telangana State and not just as Telangana.

KTR rejects Chandrababu proposal

  Keeping in view of lakhs of students’ future, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has offered to pay 58% of the fees reimbursement and asked Telangana government to bear remaining 48%. However, Telangana Minister K Taraka Rama rao has rejected his proposal. He said that his government is ready to reimburse 100% fees to its students and asked Chandrababu Naidu to do same for the students settled in Hyderabad and in other districts in Telangana.   Hence, he made it clear that there will be no change in his government’s stand on this issue. So, Supreme Court has to resolve this issue. If it also agrees with Chandrababu’s proposal and suggests Telangana government to resolve the issue through dialogue with AP government, then it will be very embarrassing for Telangana government. Instead of facing such situation, there is nothing wrong in positively responding to AP government’s proposal and in trying to amicably resolve the issue.
