TS files petition in Supreme Court

  A three member bench of Supreme Court takes up the petition today filed by the Telangana statement government. Advocate Vaidyanadhan, who represents Telangana statement government in this case argued that Telangana state was formed because it was betrayed of its due share of waters from Krishna and Godavari Rivers in the undivided Andhra Pradesh state. But, still it is not getting its due share of water from River Krishna because Maharashtra is not releasing water to Telangana state. Hence, he appeals the court to reorganize the water sharing system afresh to justify Telangana state. But, advocate Andhyarjun representing Maharashtra state argued that there is nothing new in Telangana’s argument and so no need for reorganizing the water sharing system. The apex court clubbed all the petitions filed in this matter and posted the case to August 26th.   Telangana government that is crying foul in case of Maharashtra is playing the same foul game with Andhra Pradesh state which is in the last place to receive Krishna waters. It doesn’t think anything wrong with self, but find fault with Maharashtra that is in upper portion of the river.

Pakistan cancels Commonwealth Meeting

  It is evident that Pakistan is not willing to accept Jammu & Kashmir as integral part of India, although it is in India since last 7 decades. Pakistan never leaves a chance to raise Kashmir issue on international platforms. But, for the first time it is badly struck with its stand on Kashmir. It has to cancel the commonwealth parliamentary meeting to be held at Islamabad in this month because Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has turned down its invitation.   She insists Pakistan to invite J & K Assembly speaker also to the meeting along with speakers of all states in the country. But, if Pakistan invites the J & K Assembly speaker to the meeting then it would be accepting that J & K state is an integral part of India. Hence, Pakistan refused Speaker Sumitra Mahajan’s proposal and so she also turned down its invitation to the meeting. Pakistan cancelled the meeting, as it couldn’t conduct commonwealth meeting in the absence of India.

Centre launches website for Educational Loans

  Many aspiring students may find it very difficult to convince bankers to get an educational loan for higher studies. Quite often, they have to run from one bank to other to get the loan. Hence, many poor but bright students are betrayed of their chance of higher studies and settling with small jobs.   Keeping such students in mind, Centre has launched a web site- www.vidyalakshmi.co.in to enable the students get educational loans through on-line with much ease. Total 13 banks including SBI, IDBI, Canara Bank and Union Bank of India have joined this noble program as partners. They have agreed to offer educational loans to the students through this portal run by Union Finance Ministry. Total 22 types of educational loans are offered through this vidyalakshmi portal. All details pertaining loan process, proofs, eligibility criteria, application forms etc. are available in the portal. Students, who wants to pursue higher studies can check the details and apply for educational loan on-line though this portal. They can also monitor their loans status at their convenient time without running around the banks. Thanks Modijee.

Chandrababu to demand Rs.1.5 lakh core package for AP

  Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bumper offer of Rs.1.65 lakh crores financial package to poll bound Bihar state gives a ray of hope for cash strapped Andhra Pradesh state government. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is going to ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi Rs.1.5 lakh cores financial package apart from special status to Andhra Pradesh.   The finance and political experts in the statement government have worked overtime and prepared a 200-page dossier justifying Andhra Pradesh government’s demand for financial package and special status as well. Besides technical points that stress the need of granting the package, it also consist media reports about the ongoing agitations for special status and about the mood of the people of the state over this matter. Hence, the dossier reflects the state economical and political situation.   Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will present this dossier to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his meeting rescheduled for August 25th. He is going to stress the Prime Minister to grant special status and also financial package to the state. Prime Minister Modi may not find any excuse to offer to him this time in wake of his recent announcement of financial package to Bihar state. Hence, this time people also can expect some very attractive package for the state.

AP Police to serve notice to T-Home Secretary

  An unexpected development is going to take place today in the phone tapping case. The Special Investigating Team (SIT) constituted by the Andhra Pradesh government to investigate the alleged phone tapping by the Telangana statement government is going to serve notice to Rajeevi Trivedi, the Chief Secretary of Telangana Home Ministry on Thursday evening.   SIT officials have reached Telangana Secretariat a short while ago to serve him notice, following a complaint lodged by Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao few days back in this regard. Hence, it is interesting to watch how the Telangana statement government is going to react on this unpredicted development. Telangana statement government may challenge SIT move in the high court immediately as high court has issued a stay order on phone tapping case few weeks back.

Foundation stone for NIT to be laid at Gudem

  Union HRD Minister Smrithi Irani will lay foundation stone for National Institute of Technology at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district on Thursday morning at 9.30 am. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Sujana Choudary, state ministers, MLAs and officials will attend this function. Classes will be commenced in NIT from this academic year itself in a temporary campus identified by the statement government in Eluru.   Union Minister for Commerce Nirmala Sitaraman also will inaugurate Container Prize Station at Gangavaram Port built by Vizag Profiles. Later, she will inaugurate regional office of the Export Inspection Council at Gambheeram located in the outskirts of Vizag city where IIM is coming up soon. Then she will move to Kopperla village in Vizianagaram district for inaugurating Captive Power plant near Vizianagar Biotech.

CBI files case against former Telecom Min. Raja

  CBI files cases against former Telecom Minister A. Raja, his wife, brother and his close associates on Wednesday after conducting raids on their offices and houses in Delhi, Chennai and Koyampattur simultaneously. CBI files a case against Raja for accumulating disproportionate assets worth Rs.27.9 crores. He is also facing charges in 2G scam for a long time but managed to secured bail. Probably, this would be the beginning of second round of cases for him. If so, DMK president Karunanidhi’s daughter and MP Kanimozhi also should be prepared for her turn to face the cases for the same reasons as she is also involved in 2G scam and allegedly accumulated huge assets.

Modi-CBN meeting postponed

  The proposed meeting between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi slated for tomorrow has been postponed. It is learnt that PMO has sent a message to the CMO informing about postponement of the meeting. According to PMO message, the meeting will be rescheduled to any day between August 27th and 31st.   Chandrababu Naidu has planned to leave for New Delhi on Wednesday evening for this meeting, but has to cancel it. This meeting is considered to be very significant as they both are expected to discuss about scope of granting special status, besides many other commitments made to the Andhra Pradesh state.   Perhaps, the Modi government wants to buy some time to think about what to offer to the state as scope for granting special status to the state is blink in wake of 14th Finance Commission’s objections. It can easily guess that Chandrababu Naidu may insist for a huge financial package that should be in par with Modi’s latest commitment made to Bihar state for granting Rs. 1.65 crores funds. Postponement of their crucial meeting will also provide enough time to Chandrababu Naidu and his ministers on how and what to demand from the Centre.   This is also providing a great opportunity to the opposition parties in the state to criticize both state and central governments for not giving enough priority to this burning issue. YSR Congress party also can stick to its AP state bandh on August 29th to be made in protest against abnormal delay taking place in granting special status to the state.

Pawan tweets again, Yanamala replied

  Janasena party president Pawan Kalyan is posting messages very frequently these days as the date for land acquisition from the farmers of capital city zone is nearing (August 20th). He once again posted a Tweet message on Wednesday. This time he directly appealed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu not to use Land Acquisition Act on the farmers for collecting lands.   This time he specifically asked not to take the lands of Undavalli, Penumaka, Bethampalli and some river facing villages which are very fertile. He opined that it is very nature of civilization to face environmental pollution, displacement and disgruntlement of some groups in the process of development of an area or a group. But, the ruler’s wisdom lies in developing with least damage.   His tweets in his own words: “Whichever be the country, whoever be the ruler...‘the price of Development of one area or one group always results in environmental pollution, displacement & disgruntlement of another group. This is the very nature of civilization'. But development with least damage possible completely lies in the wisdom of rulers. I urge Hon'ble CM of AP ..Sri CBN garu not to Use 'Land acquisition act' on Fertile Multi cropped Lands of Undavalli,Penumaka,Bethapudi..& other River front villages.   State Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishunudu responding to his latest tweet replied “It is very easy to give suggestion to anyone, but very difficult to find a solution to a problem. Instead of suggesting us what to do and how to do on the land acquisition, if he suggest a solution to this problem it would be much useful to us. It is not possible to construct capital city leaving few villages in the middle of the capital zone. We are not Vishwamitra to construct Trishnaku Swargam in the air.”

US AP NRIs soft-support to AP government

  Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu has proved he is very wise in tapping and utilizing the available various resources. Recently, he launched a non-profit IT project named as ‘Code for AP’ that will be run by Andhra Pradesh people settled in US. They will provide based solutions to streamline work in 30 departments of the statement government.   The areas covered in this project are Central Fund Monitoring, Sentry Gate, Mobile Device Management and News Room portals.   The Central fund monitoring is an application newly launched especially for the state government. It enables the state departments to get latest updates about various ongoing central projects and know the details and procedures of any new or old projects. Mobile Device Management will help the officials at head office to know the activities of their field officials and helps to easy transfer of files of different formats etc. from both sides. Sentry Gate as it spells it’s purpose will control the incoming and outgoing visitors in the state secretariat building. It will enable the security department to record the entries of the visitors and helps to schedule the visitors’ entry timings into secretariat using through Tablet PCs and Android Phones. News Room is an Android application that allows the people to read the latest news updates in English and Telugu from anywhere in the world.   There are two more projects ‘Dial and Expert’ and ‘Open Directory’ will be launched very soon. Dial and Expert is intended to bridge the gap between the people and officials of the statement government. Open director will provide contact details of all the statement government officials. Chandrababu Naidu thanked the AP NRIs for extending their support to the state and statement government through this Code for AP platform.Many more applications may be added to this project to cover all other areas of works in the near future.

Rajapakse defeated in Sri Lanka parliament elections

  Entire world may think that Sri Lanka former President Mahinda Rajapakse may be a sinner who violates human rights, but people of Sri Lanka thank him for clearing LTTE problem forever with his military operation in which thousands of women, children and aged persons were brutally killed. He becomes hero of the nation for a while for his achievement, but he couldn’t uphold his status for a longer period.   His rude handling of Tamil people and the opposition parties has lead to his downfall. After losing his Chair to Maithipala Sirisena, he becomes a political unemployed. He tried his luck again in the recently held Parliament elections but still stars are not favored him. This time also he lost elections to the ruling United National Party lead by Ranil Wickremesinghe. Perhaps, this would be end of Rajapakse’s political career as there is no scope for him to return to power in the near future.

Modi promises Rs. 1.60 lakh crores to Bihar

  Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared a whooping Rs.1.25 lakh crores of special financial package to Bihar state on Tuesday. He also announced an additional Rs. 40, 000 crore special financial package to the state for infrastructure development.   He made this announcement when he came to lay foundation stone of National Highway Project-11 at Ara in the state today. This 700 km stretch of highway project will be constructed with Rs. 9, 700 crores from the Rs. 40, 000 crore granted by him today.   He said these huge grants to the state will change the face of the state. He said the previous Congress lead UPA government has granted Rs. 12 000 crores but his government is granting ten times to it now. He said the statement government is failing to utilize these huge funds and develop the state.   Obviously, it will encourage the ruling TDP government and the opposition parties to question the Modi government why it is failing to implement its promise of granting special status to the AP state even after 15 months of ruling and how the Prime Minister is now granting 1.60 lakh crores to Bihar state. It will also provide a chance to Congress party to raise this point in its Bihar elections campaigning.

President Pranab Mukherjee’s wife passes away

  President of India Pranab Mukherjee’s wife Surva Mukherjee, who was ailing with respiratory problems, died at military hospital in New Delhi on Tuesday morning. She was born on 1940, September 17th in Jessore in Bengal Presidency during British regime in India. She married Pranab Mukherjee on 1957, July 13th. She was known as good writer and painter. Chokher Aloey and Chena Achenai Chin penned by her earned enough name and fame for her. She also conducted painting exhibitions. She was also a good singer and founded Geetanjali Music Troop. She used to give vocal concerts along with her music troop.   The couple has one daughter and two sons. Their elder daughter Sharmishta is a also known as great dancer of Kathak and choreographer. She is also working for Congress party since a long time. Their elder son Abhijit Mukherjee is a Congress MP from Jangipur constituency in West Bengal.

27 killed in bomb blast at Central Bangkok

  Twenty seven people were killed and more than 78 people were seriously injured in a bomb blast at Thailand’s capital Bangkok on Monday evening around 7 pm. The bomb was planted on a bike and was parked near famous Hindu shrine at Central Bangkok. Bomb squads have defused another bomb found in the same area. Although, no one have claimed responsibility for the blasts until now, police suspect its work by the Muslim militant groups of the country.

CBN lays foundation stone for Mega Food Park

  Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu lays foundation stone for Ultra Mega Food Court at Tamgadamcha village of Jupadu Bangla mandal in Kurnool district on Monday morning. Addressing the people, he said “As I promised last year, I am laying foundation stone for Mega Food Park today in your district. This is the beginning for industrial development in Kurnool district. Initially, Rs. 300 crore will be invested on Jain Food Park. Ambhuja Company is also setting up its corn processing industry in the district. This food park will become operational within 18 months from now and I will come for its inauguration.”   “We are planning to spend Rs. 250 crores on infrastructure development in the district. We are expecting around Rs. 3, 000 crores flow of investments into the district in the next few years and direct and indirect employment for 18, 000 people. Four and six lanes roads will be laid between Kurnool and Guntur to have a good connectivity with upcoming Amaravati capital city. Although, Kurnool district has sufficient natural and human resources, it was neglected for a long period by the earlier governments. But, you can see how the district will be changed into major industrial hub in the next four years,” said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

KCR launches Grama Jyothi scheme

  Telangana Chief Minister KCR has launched Grama Jyothi scheme at Gangadevipalli village in Warangal district today. This scheme is intended to decentralize the power and for speedy all-round development of villages in the state. Seven committees with specific missions like education, agriculture, basic amenities, drinking water-sanitation, social security- eradicating of poverty and preserving natural resources in each gram panchayat will be formed.   These committees will meet at regular intervals and conduct Grama Sabhas, where plans for development of their villages will be chalking out. Panchayati Raj Ministry will oversee their development programs and grant sufficient funds for it. CM KCR  declared that Rs.25, 000 crores will be spent on this program over next four years period.   However, opposition parties argue that CM KCR introducing this scheme merely not for development of villages but also to make his son KTR superior in his cabinet as he alone would oversee this Grama Jyothi scheme implementation and has powers to issue funds.   It would be interesting to see CM KCR is encouraging his MPs, MLAs, MLCs and Ministers to adopt at least one village of their choice in the state. But, he simply ignored “Samsad Aadarsh Gram Yojana” program launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi some time ago, in which he appeals all MPs to adopt at least one or two villages and develop them with Rs. 2 crores of MP local area development (MPLAD) funds allotted to them by the central government.

Pawan Kalyan tweets again

  Tollywood leading hero and Janasena party President Pawan Kalyan once again has posted a Tweet message yesterday asking the Andhra Pradesh government not to forcibly collect the lands from the farmers of the capital city zone using Land Acquisition Act. He made similar appeal to the statement government four days ago. But the very next day, in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, it was decided that remaining lands should be collected from August 20th using Land Acquisition Act, in case if the farmers are still unwilling to handover their lands under land-pooling system.   So, Pawan Kalyan may be hinting that he may jump into action, if the statement government uses Land Acquisition Act on the farmers ignoring his pleas. If so, the statement government has to convince him first before going ahead with its land acquisition plans otherwise it will complicate this already-complicated-issue further.

Indonesian airliner with 54 people on board crashed

  Indonesian airliner with 54 people including staff was crashed in the mountain area in the Oktabe district of Papua province of the country on Sunday. There were 44 adult passengers, five children and five crew members on board. This plane belongs to the Trigana Air Services that was put in the black list by the European Union long back for failing to meet the safety norms.   The ill-fated flight left Sentani Airport in Jayapura at 2.22 pm (local time) and was scheduled to reach Oksinbil at 3.16 pm, but lost contacts with Air Traffic Control at 2.55 pm. Local people, who have seen the plane crashing into the mountain area, have reported to officials immediately. However, search and rescue teams couldn’t reach the location till today early morning due to bad weather conditions. Indonesia’s director general of transportation, Suprasetyo has confirmed the crash reports and said efforts for tracing out the missing passengers were on.   During last 12 months two flights of Trigana Air Services were crashed and this is third time yesterday in which all 54 people on board are expected to be killed. This ill-fated flight was 27 years old. Hence, it may lack the latest equipment on board that could detect and alert the pilots about bad weather conditions. As a result, all the 54 people on board might have lost their lives.

Supreme Court stays Voter-Aadhar cards linkage

  Supreme Court has issued stay order on Friday on linking of voter cards with Aadhar cards by the elections commission. Supreme Court that clubs several petitions filed opposing linkage of these two cards, while issuing stay order said that ration cards and subsidy gas connections can be linked with Aadhar cards but not voter cards. Hence, it orders the elections commission to stop the linkage process of voter cards with Aadhar cards immediately till further orders. EC plans to remove lakhs of bogus votes all over the country by linking them with Aadhar cards, but the apex court prevents it from doing so.   Supreme Court’s stay order may also upset the TRS government’s plans for GHMC elections. TDP leaders have complained to Chief elections officer Banwar Lal recently stating that the TRS government is trying to remove around 34 lakhs voters in Hyderabad alone taking excuse that either they are not possessing Aadhra cards or do not want to link their voter cards with Aadhar cards. TDP and BJP believe that the TRS government is trying to eliminate their vote bank from its strong hold areas in a bid to weaken their parties and to win the GHMC elections. If so, the apex court’s decision may upset the TRS government’s plans.
