  • After Honour killing, widow bids for suicide

Many are aware of the honour killing of V.Shankar in Tamilnadu, which shook the state. V. Shankar who belonged to Dalit community, fell in love with S.Kausalya of a higher caste. They got married despite severe protests from the parents of the girl. This has infuriated the relatives of Kausalya who ventured to kill her husband in broad day light. The honour killing has of course shook the state to the core. Many protests and inquiries has followed the murder.   Kausalya has decided to stay with her in laws after the incident. But she probably couldn’t digest the loss of her beloved husband. Kausalya has attempted for suicide and was admitted into Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital. Her condition is said to be serious. The tormented life of Kausalya has cast severe doubts on the tolerance levels in Tamil Nadu against inter caste marriages.

Though the motive behind the suicide was not yet confirmed, a 30 page suicide note was removed from the deceased. Sources indicated that the 39 year old youth was neck deep in debt due to cricket betting. The news has come as a shock to the residents of Delhi, as it is supposed to be a secured zone. The suicide took place at Vijay Chowk which is very close to buildings such as parliament and Rashtrapati Bhavan.

    World’s Oldest Mother in Punjab

At 72 years Daljinder Kaur from Punjab has embraced motherhood, making her the world’s oldest mother. Daljinder has been childless since 46 years of her marriage, and always wished to have one. On April 19, Daljinder along with her husband had a male child through IVF. When asked about her ability to look after her child, Daljinder was confident that she would see her child going to a good school. Dr Anurag Bishnoi who runs a fertility clinic in Haryana was the person who made the dreams of Daljinder come true. But Dr. Bishnoi is equally amassing severe criticism.   Many specialists were of the view that age should be considered before undergoing IVF treatment. Many point out that IVF treatment in women above 50 years might be suicidal. Even if the treatment comes out as a success, the children who are born has to face parents who are living their last years. But Dr. Bishnoi doesn’t seem to listen about such ethical questions. No matter what, he feels that reproductivity is one’s fundamental right.

Car bombing in Iraq kills at least 64

In the latest strike by ISIS, a car bombing in the city of Sadr has left at least 64 dead and many others wounded. ISIS seems to have targeted the Shia sect prominent in the city. Many of those killed were reported to be women and children. The attack which took place in a crowded market has reminded a similar attack in February, where at least 70 people were killed. The Iraqi government along with the support of US coalition and Shia forces was able to dominate the city of Sadr. But the ISIS has been trying to prove its presence by such gruesome attacks.

Harish Rawat back as CM... but

Harish Rawat, the ousted CM of Uttarakhand is back in his place. The Supreme Court has declared that Rawat’s government has achieved the confidence of 33 members out of 61 to clear the half way mark. Sensing the defeat, the centre has announced the revocation of President’s rule even before the mandate by the Supreme Court. But that doesn’t seem to be an end for Rawat’s trouble. He has few riddles to solve in future.   The first challenge for Harish would be the question regarding the rebel MLA’s. Supreme Court has made it clear that if suspension of nine rebel MLA’s by then Uttarakhand Speaker is considered as void, he has to face yet another floor test to prove his majority. The second challenge would be the sting operation video, in which Harish is seen trading for MLA’s. CBI is chasing Harish regarding the scam and he is yet to appear for a detailed explanation before CBI.

    Brazil president to be impeached

The Brazilian parliament is all set to impeach it’s first women president- Dilma Rousseff. Even as the country is facing its worst economic crisis since 1930, the latest impeachment might leave the country in a political turmoil. Dilma is facing the allegations of manipulating  government’s accounts to show a rosy picture of otherwise failing economy. Dilma’s impeachment would certainly affect the Olympics that were scheduled this year. Violent clashes and Zika virus has already made their negative impact on tourists getting ready for the Olympics. The latest political chaos might cause much harm to the event.

    Obama to Hiroshima

Barak Obama becomes the first US president to visit Hiroshima, the place where the US flights has dropped the atom bomb on 6th August 1945. The Bomb named as “Little Boy” has resulted in immediate death of thousands of civilians. It’s estimated to have effected lakhs of people due to the radiation it has caused. After three days of explosion, another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, formally ending the second World War.   Despite the huge loss caused to humanity by such bombings, many Americans still feel it to be a necessary act to end the war. Higher diplomats in US has always avoided a visit to Hiroshima. But in recent times, US leaders began to break the trend. Recently, John Kerry became the first US secretary to visit Hiroshima. Now! Obama is scheduled to visit the war memorial at Hiroshima this month. But! As you can expect... He is not going to apolozise for gruesome act committed by US on that day, which has left a mark on human history.

    Jamaat-e-Islami chief hanged in Bangladesh

Motiur Rahman Nizami, the chief of famously infamous Jamaat-e-Islami group was hanged in Bangladesh. Nizami who was 73 years old is being convicted for the war crimes committed during 1971. With this he would be the fourth Jamaat leader to be hanged for war crimes. Jamaat-e-Islami which is one of the largest parties in Bangladesh has supported Pakistan during the 1971 war of Bangladesh liberation. It has indulged in suppression and massacre of numerous civilians during the war in support to Pakistan.   Nizami is one such leaders of Jamaat who was now convicted with murder, torture and rape during the war. He was also responsible for killing secularists and intellectuals in the country. But everyone doesn’t seem to be happy with the execution of Nizami. Scores of violent incidents were initiated by the cadre of Jamaat-e-Islami whenever their leaders got executed for war crimes. This time too... the Bangladesh government has taken stringent steps to retain peace.

Not easy to get Mallya back

In a frustrating mode, Indian government has received a formal reply from UK regarding the deportation of Vijay Mallya. Reason! Vijay Mallya’s passport was a valid one, while he entered their country. With this, the chances to deport the liquor baron has become tighter. Now India has to face several legal hurdles to get back Mallya. Mallya has fled from India on March 2nd to UK- the country in which he is a resident. He is even listed in the electoral rolls of the country. UK can now arrest Mallya and extradite him if he has committed any offence in both UK and India. That concludes that UK may not lay its hand on Mallya unless he commits a crime in UK and it may send him to India only after the judicial process regarding such crime is completed.r

Breach of Privilege notice against Modi

The congress has given Breach of Privilege notice to the PM in Lok Sabha as well as in Rajya Sabha. Congress has taken such a decision after hearing some harsh criticism from Modi regarding the Augusta Chopper scam. Modi has been frequently pointing out at the ‘Italian connection’ in the scam indicating the role of Sonia. Though such criticism was made by Mr.Modi during his election campaigns, Congress members have given the notice claiming that they have defamed their leaders. If such notice is accepted by the Speaker, Modi has to prove the validity of his remarks before the house. The house if not satisfied might even punish him with suspension or even imprisonment! Even though the NDA members were brushing off such motion as a publicity stunt, the Congress is stressing the notice to be served.

PIL against job offer to Rohit Vemula’s brother

It’s a well known fact that Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal has taken much interest in the suicide of Rohit Vemula. Kejriwal has even offered a class ‘C’ job to his brother Vemula Chaitanya Kumar. But his act of solidarity doesn’t seem to have been well received by the Delhi public. A PIL was filed in the Delhi high court questioning the act. The petitioner has alleged that such decision was ‘illegal and politically motivated’ as Rohit’s family has not asked for any such favour.   Further the petitioner criticised that Rohit Vemula was neither a resident of Delhi nor was he in any way related to it. The PIL has urged the court to quash the Cabinet’s decision by setting Chaitanya’s appointment aside. The petitioner feels that such appointments would harm the interests of Delhi youth who are trying to get a job on their own merit. It has also asked the court to give directions to Delhi regarding the appointments to be made on compassionate ground.

Former Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Haider Gilani, was recovered in Afghanistan. Three years ago, he has been abducted from the Punjab province during an election campaign. It was May 9th, 2013 when Ali Haider Gilani was campaigning on behalf of Pakistan People’s party in Punjab, when gunmen has suddenly arrived the scene. Young India is opting for Suicide

The Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Well-being has made some startling revelations that are quite disturbing. This international organisation has studied various statistics from India and delivered some bad news for us. It has revealed that suicide is the leading cause of deaths for young people between 10-24 in India. According to the report , in 2013... 62,960 people of this age group has chosen to take a drastic decision to end their lives. Experts were deducing that these huge number of suicides could be due to changes in livelihood.   Cut throat competition and life style diseases such as obesity are leading our youth to depression. But these statistics are not just confined to our country. Reports from various countries too were indicating similar trends. The Commissions’ lead authors have warned these statistics to be a ‘wake up call’. Who are going to hear that!

    Terrorist attack in Germany

In an unexpected move, a person has killed one and wounded three others in Germany. The incident took place in a railway station named Grafing near Munich. Media has been widely reporting that this could be the act of a terrorist. Some witnesses said he shouted "Allahu akbar" before randomly stabbing the victims. There were reports that the idealism of ISIS is slowly spreading to the peaceful Germany. Last month two German speaking jihadists posted an online video vowing to attack the unbelievers in Germany and Austria. After the attacks on Paris and Belgium, there were fears that such violence could spread to other parts of Europe. The latest news from Germany seems to be confirming such fears.

Stay away from Olympics.. Brazilian footballer

Many foot ball fans might be aware of the name Rivaldo. Once a Olympic winner for his country, Rivaldo is now probably upset about the violence in his country. Though Brazil is not new to spurts of violence, the recent political turmoil seems to have worsened the situation. As per the statistics provided by Amnesty International, at least 11 people were killed in police shoot outs, last month alone. “Things are getting uglier here every day. I advise everyone with plans to visit Brazil for the Olympics in Rio — to stay home. You’ll be putting your life at risk here.   This is without even speaking about the state of public hospitals and all the Brazilian political mess. Only God can change the situation in our Brazil,” wrote Rivaldo. Rivaldo’s statement could definitely influence the tourists eager to visit Rio for the upcoming Olympics. But it’s not just violence that’s threatening the Rio Olympics. Rapid spread of Zika virus too is causing tourists to panic even before they are planning a visit.

Congress claims to have won Uttarakhand

The floor test of Uttarakhand was completed as per the directions of Supreme Court. Though the results will be handed over to the supreme court tomorrow in a sealed cover, Congress government is confident that it has won the motion.  Earlier the Court has declared that the nine rebel MLA’s would not be given a chance to take part in the voting. This has given the present government more than a chance to defeat the no- confidence motion. With 62 legislators left after such decision, Congress needed the confidence of atleast 32 MLA’s to retain the government. As the two legislators of BSP has expressed their solidarity with the present government, Harish is expected to regain his position without a hiccup.

Rahul cancels visits after a threat letter

Rahul Gandhi who has visit Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala has cancelled his schedule. Though the twitter of Rahul Gandhi has given a reason of fever... a threat call might have also influenced his decision. Last week V Narayanasamy, the prominent congress leader from Puducherry has received a letter threatening to attack him along with Rahul during their election campaign. This have prompted the congress leaders to meet Union Minister Rajnath Singh.   The Union Minister has in turn directed the Special Protection Group and the Intelligence Bureau to take necessary precautions. Amidst such security concerns Rahul Gandhi has tweeted that he is not going to visit the states as per the schedule due to high fever. He has not given any clarity of the reschedule of his visit. With the final polling in those three states being conducted on May 16th, Rahul may not have a further chance to address any election campaigns in those states.

    Telugu candidate against Jayalalitha

No one need to be informed about the considerable amount of Telugites in Tamil Nadu. But it has been hard for them to retain their identity. With the growing popularity of Dravidian parties, Telugu people had to lay low in Tamil Nadu. Even as people like Vijaykanth and Vaiko are of Telugu origin, they had completely transformed themselves into the Tamil outfit. It’s hard for anyone either to recognise or to point out them as people with Andhra origin.   But now things seem to change a little bit. Some Telugu people are seen participating in the ongoing Tamil Nadu elections. K. Jagadeeshwara Reddy, an independent has entered the fray against none other than the present CM Jayalalitha. He is closely followed by V. Vijayakrishna who is contesting for Mylapore Assembly constituency under the emblem of Shiv Sena. Both these people have been appealing the votes of local Telugu people. But a victory for them might be more than a difficult chance!

    Modi B.A, M.A

BJP president Amit Shah has today made public, the certificates obtained by PM Modi. This act has become inevitable after the Delhi CM Kejriwal has alleged that, Modi has been cheating the nation with a false BA certificate. From a few days, Kejriwal has been raising his voice against the educational qualification of Modi. He has been alleging that Modi has never obtained a BA certificate from the Delhi University as revealed in his election affidavits. He even claimed that without a BA degree, his MA degree from Gujarat University would also be a farse. But with the latest revelations by Amit Shah, it would be certainly interesting to watch the next comment from Kejriwal.
