  • 12 killed in Nalgonda

      Atleast twelve people were feared killed in a gruesome accident in the district of Nalgonda when a tractor plunged into the canal. The tractor was carrying 30 farm workers at the time of the accident. The workers were being carried to chilli farms for work. Sources reveal that the driver has lost control on the tractor and landed it into the canal which is a part of Alimineti Madhava Reddy Project. So far nine bodies were recovered and rescue operations were still in progress. The accident comes as a shock as the people of Telangana has not yet forgotten the accident of last month in Nizambad, when ten farm workers were dead in similar cirsumstances.

    One more bank scam worth 3000 cr.

      It seems to be a season of scams to frighten the common man of the country. Yesterday the CBI has registered a case against Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited (DPIL) and its directors for cheating the banks. The Gujarat based company is said to have amassed 2,654 crores from 11 banks. Interestingly the company has obtained these loans despite appearing on the defaulters' list of the RBI. The scam has not only affected the banking system, but also the shareholders of the company. Once the share of the company stood at 35/- and has now degraded to a meagre 7 Rs.

    Indian Cricketer in match fixing row

      An Indian cricketer is being probed for his possible links in match fixing. The investigation is being done by the Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) of BCCI. Though nothing much is revealed about the cricketer, it’s learned that he is a member of the 2011 World Cup-winning squad. The fixing has said to take place in a domestic tournament named Rajputana Premier League (RPL). The tournament has seen some bizarre incidents which raised suspicions of match fixing. The name of the Indian cricketer came into light when the police started probing the issue. Now who could be that player? We have one more clue for you. He has represented India in all three formats of the game.

      Who can forget the Nirav Modi who has cheated the Indian banks with thousands of crores? The Nirav Modi scam has a huge effect on the banking system, with the customers losing their confidence on the system. But can you imagine where Nirav Modi could have been. He seems to be happily enjoying the holiday at Hong Kong. In a question raised in Rajya Sabha, the ministry of external affairs has revealed of his present whereabouts. And it won’t be an easy thing to get him back. Hong Kong is under the control of China and everyone knows that China is not an easy country to work with.

    Baba gets 25 years jail in rape case

      A fast track court has sentenced Baba Dwarkadas with 25 years imprisonment for molesting a lady in his ashram at Vrindavan. The lady has approached him to get rid of persisting stomach ache. Baba then raped her in the pretext of tantric ritual. The victim was warned to keep quiet and threatened to eliminate her family, if the matter is disclosed. However, victim has gathered enough courage to complaint against Baba and drag him to justice.

    Worst Parliament Session in Indian History

      Well! No insult intended either to democracy or to parliament... but the reports indicate the present parliament session to be the worst in Indian History. The present session was spread for more than two months (January29 – April 6). But most of the days have gone futile due to adjournments. According to an estimate Lok Sabha the productivity of Lok Sabha stood at 25% and Rajya Sabha stood at 35% which is pathetic. While TDP MP’s have been protesting for special status, AIADMK is suspected to have a secret arrangement with BJP to stall the proceedings. The Financial Express has estimated an amount of 190 crores of public being wasted due to these proceedings. What a loss!

      Have you ever wondered about Cambridge Analytica that was shaking the roots of Facebook? Well we have the answer for you. Cambridge Analytica is a political consulting firm that helps people to win elections. It has played a major role in the victory of Donald Trump as US president. So what’s wrong with it? Cambridge Analytica has stolen the data of almost 87 million users of Facebook. It then tried to influence their opinion by sending positive news and selective opinions about Trump. The innocent users have of course fell in the trap and voted for Trump. And why is the Facebook to be blamed in this issue? Facebook has allowed numerous apps to steal the personal data of the Facebook users without any regulations. And of course Cambridge Analytica gathered such data to manipulate the voters!

    India gets first medal in Commonwealth

      Indian sportsmen kick starts the medals tally in commonwealth games. Gururaja bagged silver in the category of 56 kg weightlifting. Izhar Ahmed (Malaysia) has won gold with a new Commonwealth Games record of 261 kg while Gururaja followed him with 249 kg. Gururaja who hails from Karnataka has overcome many hardships to reach the present position. Hailing from the family of a truck driver, he started his career as a wrestler. However a coach found him to be much fit for weightlifting and advised him to change his field. And of course the advice did prove to be perfect!

    Blood and Urine samples for Aadhaar Card

      Does the Indian government wish to collect blood and urine samples of its citizens? Well there is no specific answer for it! The Supreme Court while hearing the arguments about aadhaar has expressed concern that the government might seek blood samples in future for obtaining Aadhaar.  And the government’s lawyer has not denied it. “Blood, urine, DNA may be added, but that will be subject to examination by the courts,’’ was the reply of the government’s attorney. There was a clause in the Aadhar act that enables the government to collect `biometric information’ of the citizens. And the word biometric could mean anything from fingerprints to DNA !!!

    Serious health problems for ARUN JAITLEY

      Reliable sources say that Finance Minister Arun Jaitely is suffering with chronic health problems. Jaitley has been suffering with diabetes from a long time. The disease has taken toll on his kidneys and doctors were getting ready for kidney transplantation. Jaitley was advised not to make any public appearance as it would induce unwanted infections. Jaitley has to stay away from the public for some days even after the operation, to avoid any complications. Jaitley has earlier undergone heart and bariatric surgeries.

    Who is COMPUTER BABA?

      The name computer Baba began to appear in the headlines for obvious reasons. He is among five sadhus appointed by Madhya Pradesh government to save Naramada River. They were even given Minister Status. It means that the MP government would have five sadhu’s in its ministry! Now let’s get back to the curious case of Computer Baba.  His original name is Namdev Tyagi. He is called as Computer Baba as he claims to have a computer like brain and quick memory. He is often seen with latest gadgets like laptop, smart phones and wi-fi dongles. Well that’s not the end of the sage. Computer Baba even loves to travel in helicopters.

    One Lakh trees to be cut down on Highway

      Governments on one hand keep publicising about the need of planting trees. On the other hand, numerous trees get uprooted in the name of infrastructure and development. Need an example? Here it is! The Maharashtra government is building up a prestigious highway between Mumbai and Nagpur. In such process more than one lakh trees have to be cut down. And most of them belong to sensitive eco zones. Though the central environment ministry is raising red flags against such deforestation, Maharashtra government seems to go ahead with the project. Who can question the government???

    Kejriwal supports TDP

      Chandrababu Naidu who has been to Delhi has met the Delhi CM Kejriwal today. He is said to have explained his struggle for obtaining special status to AP. Kejriwal has keenly listened to the agony of AP CM and has extended his support to the cause of TDP. Chandrababu Naidu would also meet Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal today. He would then summon a press conference to address the national media. He is supposed to clarify on various issues regarding the centre’s promises and failures.

    Amazon to buy Flipkart

    Well. Here is some interesting news for the online shoppers. Amazon is all set to purchase majority of shares in Flipkart. Amazon and Flipkart have been two major players in the field of online shopping at India. Flipkart has the leading edge in the market with 40 percent of the share. Unable to get past, Amazon is planning to purchase shares in Flipkart. This might turn the online market into a monopoly where Amazon would be dictating the terms. However, global giant Walmart is also making moves to purchase Flipkart! A few more days is needed to find out the final winner of the bid.

    Shooting at YOUTUBE office

      The world of social media was shocked with the news of gunfire at YouTube headquarters in San Francisco. According to reports, a woman in her 30’s has entered the office and opened a blind fire. Three people were injured in the fire and the shooter has killed herself before the police arrived. However the investigating authorities have denied it to be the act of terrorism. Initial reports suggest the firing to be the result of some domestic dispute. Ironically You Tube has recently declared that it would prohibit the content promoting sale of guns and their accessories, to discourage the prevailing gun culture in US.

    Chandrababu Naidu in parliament

      Rajya Sabha was adjourned till tomorrow, following the uproar of TDP MP’s demanding special status for AP. Earlier Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP), Manoj Kumar Jha (RJD) and TDP’s CM Ramesh took oath as new Rajya Sabha members. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu too was present in the parliament today to meet the leaders of several national parties and explain to them, the injustice done to the state. The entry of Andhra Pradesh CM into the parliament is seen as a strategy to attract the national media to the cause of special status.

    Tamil Nadu CM on hunger strike

      On a rare occasion, the CM of a state has sat down on hunger strike. Tamil Nadu CM K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam have joined their cadre in Chennai for the fast. They are protesting the Central government’s failure to set up a Cauvery Management Board (CMB) despite the Supreme Court’s order. It would be interesting to watch the reaction of the centre towards the issue. As the ruling BJP is facing elections in Karnataka, setting up the Cauvery Management Board would certainly hamper its victory. On the other side AIADMK would be left with no alternative except to break up its honeymoon with BJP if the board is not constituted.

    Prime Minister ignored the ICICI scam

      The 3000 crore scam between ICIC I bank and Videocon might be shaking the country. It’s deemed to be one more blow on the confidence of tax payers with the banking system. But sources reveal that the Prime Minister’s office was warned about the scam in 2016. An activist named Arvind Gupta has written a letter to the PMO stating the facts of the crime. Even Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has sent a request to the government requesting the grant to probe the scam. But no one seemed to be interested in dealing a scam that would bring the bank’s CEO Chanda Kochar into limelight. And now... it seems to be too late when every penny of the scam has been drifted away.

      Google has honoured famous freedom fighter Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay on her 115th birth anniversary with a doodle. Though Kamaladevi was highly educated, she has chosen the path of freedom movement. She walked along with Gandhi during salt satyagraha and was even sent to jail by the British. Kamaladevi was the first women to contest for a legislative seat (Madras) in India. She played the master mind behind the institutions such as All-India Womens Conference (AIWC) National School of Drama and Central Cottage Industries Emporium. These institutions have played a major role in empowering the women of India and encouraging craft industries.
