The mobile service providers in Hyderabad, who were caught between the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana state governments, have filed a petition in the Supreme Court yesterday. Responding to their petition the apex court allows them to handover the call data asked by the SIT through Vijayawada Majistrate Court.
It asks them to submit the call data in a sealed cover to Vijayawada court within one week. Supreme Court orders Vijayawada court to allow SIT officials to begin their investigating in the alleged phone tapping cases by the Telangana state government only after 4 weeks after receiving the call data from the service providers.
Initially, the mobile service providers have told Vijayawada court that they can’t handover the call data to it because the Telangana state government has warned that it will prosecute them if gives the details to any others. But, Vijayawada court also warned that it will take action against them for contempt of court if they do not submit the call data to it on July 23rd. So, they approached the apex court seeking its views on this matter and it permits them to submit the call data to Vijayawada court.
Hence, they can submit the call data to Vijayawada court without any hesitation as they have apex court’s permission and protection. The Telangana state government also may not dare to prosecute them now.
