PB Srinivas passes away

Noted play back singer Pratiwadhi Bayankar Srinivas popularly known as PB Srinivas (83) died on Sunday morning at his home in Chennai due to cardiac arrest. PB was born to Phanidra Swamy and Seshagiriyamma couple in Kakinada, East Godavari district on 22nd September, 1930.
He has sung many songs in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages in 200 films. He fluently speaks in all the south Indian languages and in English, Sanskrit, Hindi and Urdu languages. He is also known lyricist and used to write at least one song a day in his dairy, which he used to keep with him. Although, he sings for many Telugu films, his main contribution goes to Kannada and Tamil films. He sung many songs to noted Kannada actor Raj Kumar and to Gemini Ganeshan.
He was survived by 4 sons and 1 daughter. Except one son, all others are settled in Chennai. His last rituals may take place tomorrow at Chennai after his son arrives from Hyderabad. People from the southern film industries start flowing into Chennai to pay their last respects to this singing legend.
