Experts are of the opinion that Taj Mahal is loosing its sheen by the every passing day. And one of the many reasons for it may be the frequent mud therapy being done. The mud pack therapy on the Taj Mahal is being done to fight the problems posed by pollution and insects. The therapy is currently being applied for the third time in the last 14 months on the monument's north wall.
This experts say is taking the colour off the walls of this symbolic monument. A professor at the Centre for Environmental Science and Engineering at IIT-Kanpur, has stated that with regular cleaning, the original colour, texture and shine from the marble surfaces will be gone forever. Contradicting this theory, an official from ASI said that this is the safest and most-used method to clean monuments across the world and also the problem of pollution needs to be tackled by the state government.
