A senior official at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is said to have cleared the revised plan for the sprawling Lotus Pond residence of Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, all by himself, bypassing the mandatory step of referring the matter to the Building Committee.

With the matter coming to light, the official and some other staffers are likely to come under the scanner of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing the alleged illegal assets of the young MP. The agency continued with the evaluation of Jagan's Lotus Pond residence to assess its value for the seventh day Thursday.

Government sources told that while the original permission for all the offices and residences of Jagan Mohan Reddy was cleared by the Building committee, the revised plan submitted later for the Lotus Pond residence was reportedly not referred to the committee. Though it is not clear why the official chose to clear the revised plan all by himself, the officials is, incidentally, close to the late YSR family. Sources said the CBI is looking into this aspect and will go through the original plan and the revised plan to see the changes that were carried out.
