The country is troubling with Babri Maszid-Ramajanma Bhoomi issue for last several decades, yet the problem couldn’t be solved amicably until now. Now and then tensions arise in the country because of this unsolved puzzle. As if it is not enough, an Islamic University (Heera International Islamic College) in Hindu’s holy city Tirupati is emerging, that to in a place that belongs to Lord Venkateswara Temple. The land, where the University is coming-up was part of a temple pond- called Pushkarini. The temple has a history that is way back to 1542 but the statue of the deity was destroyed by Hyder Ali in year 1782.
However, Nowhera Shaikh, who is running an educational institute ‘Madrasa Niswan’ in Tirupati (under a society registered with the Registration of Societies Act, AP, India, No: 386) for Muslim women, claims herself as the founder of this University. Soon after construction activities began in the Temple’s land, people from all walks including local Muslims have protested it. Although, the concerned authorities have categorically denied granting permission to University, however no attempt was made to stop the construction activities. BJP and other Hindu organizations are demanding immediate action from authorities. Even Muslim organizations in the city are also objecting the construction of the University in the holy city that may trigger communal tensions in the peaceful city.
