Three doctors, a Director and a CEO were arrested

Mumbai: The CEO, Director and three doctors of Dr LH Hiranandani hospital were arrested on Tuesday in Mumbai, for their ostensible involvement in a kidney sale racket. Dr Anurag Naik (the Director), Dr Sujit Chattarjee(the CEO), Dr Mukesh Shah, Dr Prakash Shetty and Dr Mukesh Shete were arrested and took the total number of arrests to 12 in reference to the kidney selling racket. Police started investigation, when they were tipped off that illegal kidney transplantations were being performed based on fake documentation, which involves many from the Hiranandani hospital. Following the same, seven were arrested in the month of July.
The spokesperson of the hospital said, “we are conducting an internal inquiry and will only comment once it is over”. Police said that the doctors were charged under The Transplantation of Human Organ Act, 1994 and would be produced in the court on Wednesday.
