Will TRS merge with Congress ever?

Although the Congress party is firmly reiterating its stand on Telangana, all the signs it is giving during the last few days, makes TRS suspect about its intentions. Hence, the Congress efforts to merge TRS with it yield no positive results. TRS believes that Congress is gradually succumbing to pressures of Seemandhra leaders and to the ongoing Samaikyandhra agitations. So, though the TRS president KCR and his MPs landed at New Delhi to vote for the food security bill, they have not shown any interest to meet the Congress high command for discussing on merger issue.
TRS Politburo member B.Vinod Kumar speaking to media has said “We are not in hurry to merge with Congress party. Let it fulfill its promise of creating Telangana state first. Any discussions about merger can be initiated only after Congress completes the bifurcation process and Telangana state emerges. However, we would like to oblige Digvijay Singh’s request of voting in favour of food security bill, as it helps crores of downtrodden to have their daily meal. But, it doesn’t mean that we can be taken for granted by the Congress party either on bifurcation or merger issues. We insist the Congress to complete the process as early as possible.”
His statement indicates that there is a wide gap between Congress and TRS plans. Probably, TRS wants to buy some time for it. TRS might be thinking that if it could prolong this merger issue till next general elections, then it can take appropriate decision that gives maximum benefit for them.
But, Congress is desperate to remove the TRS flag from Telangana before going for the elections, so as there will be no contenders for it in the region. But, it finds itself in helpless situation in its decision. Neither it can’t go ahead or stop the bifurcation process.
