Special court for CBI cases has dismissed the application filed by V Vijay Sai Reddy seeking using laptop inside the prison on the ground that an accused could be given unbridled access to the outside world through internet. Dismissing the application, the special judge B Nagamaruti Sarma said in his orders, “Misuse of laptop cannot be imagined or stopped or prevented. As such, it is felt proper that the facility sought by the petitioner cannot be extended.”
Earlier, B Ravindranath, deputy legal advisor, CBI, argued that if the court allowed Vijay Sai Reddy to use a laptop in the prison, he may try to influence the witnesses in the case. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, counsel for Vijay Sai Reddy, said his client was a reputed chartered accountant and pleaded with the court to grant him permission to use his laptop in prison.
