TDP MLC from Nizamabad local bodies constituency Narasa Reddy's election was set aside by the AP High Court today. After re-counting, the court declared Venkat Rami Reddy of Congress elected as MLC by a margin of two votes.
It is to be recalled that earlier the defeated candidate Venkat Rami Reddy approached the high court challenging the election result declared by the Returning Officer. The high court declared the election of Narasa Reddy as invalid and declared Venkat Rami Reddy as the winning candidate. However, Narsa Reddy approached the Supreme Court.
The apex court directed Narasa Reddy to settle the issue in the state high court only. It also directed the high court to call the counting officials and ensure the counting of votes in the presence of judges. The counting of votes was taken up today in the presence of the judges who declared Venkat Rami Reddy as the winner.
