Ban on beef and liquor hurts economy- Godrej

Industrialists have always kept themselves away from the raging controversies over beef in India. But Adi Godrej, the chairman of Godrej company seems to make an exception. Speaking to a leading newspaper Adi Godrej has expressed his concerns of beef ban over economy. Adi has felt that such a ban would affect rural growth as beef could be good source of income for farmers. He has even expressed his concern over a ban on liquor. Adi Godrej felt that such a ban would not only fail to reduce liquor consumption, but would also encourage liquor mafia. This noted industrialist is of the view that beef was once consumed by Indians during vedic times and there is nothing against beef in Hindu religion. A ban on liquor and beef according to Adi is a ploy by politicians to gain votes.
