Is Vijay Deverakonda targeting nepo-kids?

Vijay Deverakonda has found himself in the middle of the controversies due to his statements. A perception among people has been framed that he is still trying to leverage his 'no background actor' card into sympathy for better box office performance. While he understands this, he is still found ending up in some controversy.

The actor is waiting for the release of his long due in production, Kingdom. The movie has been confirmed to release on 31st July and makers are working day and night to complete all post production works. Vijay sat with Anupama Chopra for an interview and while talking about his position, early in his career, he said that he never had leverage that a star kid or nepo-kid has.

He stated that he couldn't ask a producer or a director to give the script a good two to three months time to finish it properly. Even though he knew there have been issues, he would just work along as he is a newcomer. At the same time, he stated that he knew another young actor with similar stature like him could take that time.

Talking about this further, he stated that today, he has that time and leverage to ask a producer and director to work on the script further, if he feels, it needs that time. He even stated that somehow people have framed a negative perception against him and he is unable to erase it.

The Liger actor also stated that he asked his team to drop, "The Vijay Deverakonda" and "Rowdy Star" tags as he would love to be just Vijay. But as many of his contemporaries have tags, his team felt a need for it. He stated that he is happy with being recognised as himself and all the statements he make are also part of it.

He candidly explained that Kingdom could have reincarnation storyline but he doesn't want to give away too much at the moment. Also, he stated that his fans ask him to not give interviews due to the controversies but he cannot avoid meeting press when a film is about to release.

Well, Vijay seems to have a tendency to make some or the other statement even in fun and good faith, which can still pull him into controversies.
