Anasuya apologises to Raasi for her double meaning joke

on Jan 5, 2026

In a heartfelt note shared on social media, popular host and actress Anasuya Bharadwaj has extended a sincere, public apology to veteran actress Raasi garu. The apology addresses a specific incident from a television skit performed three years ago, during which Anasuya used "double meaning" dialogues that targeted Raasi.

Reflecting on the past, Anasuya admitted that while she was directed to deliver those lines, she regrets not having the strength or agency at the time to question the writers and directors responsible for the content. "It was a mistake," she stated, "and I should have stood my ground then."

Anasuya highlighted her personal growth, noting that she has since evolved and even moved away from shows that do not align with her values. She expressed concern that the old footage is currently being weaponized by trolls in a "hate campaign" to undermine her current advocacy for women’s safety and dignity.

Acknowledging the discomfort this situation may cause Raasi garu, Anasuya emphasized that regardless of whether the original showrunners apologize, she feels a personal responsibility to own her mistake. Now feeling more empowered to challenge narratives built around women’s bodies, she requested Raasi’s understanding and support, closing her message with a respectful "Wishing you well, ma’am."
