Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has reportedly landed in a certification tussle, with the film’s violent content becoming a talking point ahead of its October 15 release. Recent reports claimed that the CBFC had considered an A certificate for the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial, while Rajinikanth was said to be keen on a U/A certificate so that the film could reach a wider family audience.

According to the reports, Rajinikanth was said to have asked the makers to avoid repeating the A-certificate situation of Coolie. The reports further claimed that the makers were discussing whether certain violent portions should be trimmed to secure a U/A certificate. However, there has been no official confirmation from Sun Pictures regarding the film’s certification.

Rajinikanth’s publicist Riaz K Ahmed has now responded to these reports on X and dismissed them as untrue. Sharing the report, he wrote, “This is untrue. Jailer 2 updates will be given by the production house as per their schedule…” He later also asked fans not to panic, stating that there were no changes to the release plans as of now.

Jailer 2 is scheduled to release worldwide on October 15, 2026, with Rajinikanth returning as Muthuvel Pandian. Nelson Dilipkumar is directing the sequel, while Anirudh is composing the music. Sun Pictures has officially retained the October 15 release date, and the makers are continuing with their promotional plans.
