The Hyderabad 10K Run, which was held on Sunday, was disrupted for some time by the Telangana protagonists. Around 400 students from Osmania University (OU) and other educational institutions from the city joined the event wearing black badges and shouted pro-Telangana slogans in support of separate statehood demand. The students protest was over "police repression" against them.
The run that started from People's Plaza on the Necklace Road, was disrupted for about 20 minutes by the sloganeering students who were later apprehended by police. The protesting students held up banners in support of the Telangana agitation and demanded that the police lift restrictions on protest marches taken out by students. Sunday’s demonstration was supported by Telangana Netizens, a group that conducts online campaign for 'T' cause through social networking forums. The arrested students were taken to Kachiguda police station where they were detained under several charges. Organisers, however, said that the protest did not prove to be a "major hitch".
