Petroleum University in EG district

The Centre’s promise to set-up a petroleum university in Andhra Pradesh state will materialize from next year. A two-member committee comprising Dr. G.J. Gupta and S.P. Mathur the director and project advisor of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology has visited many places in East Godavari district in search of suitable location for the proposed university.They have visited government ITI at Kakinada, NAC center at Bommuru Godavari Institute of Engineering and Technology, Government Arts College, Adikavi Nannayya University etc. in the district. They also visited government lands at Diwanchervu village in Rajanagaram mandal, Jegurupadu in Kadium mandal for the same purpose.

Dr. GJ Gupta told the media that they will choose either or some of the buildings for temporarily running the petroleum university till permanent structures are in place. He said they are planning to start admissions from next academic year through joint engineering entrance exams. This university will be under petroleum ministry, he said.
