India gets full membership in MTCR

After the stiff opposition from China which led to India not being able to become a member of NSG, in a big boost to India, it was confirmed on Monday that it has become a full member of Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). The press release said,"The MTCR Point of Contact in Paris has conveyed the decision regarding India’s accession to the regime through the Embassy of France in New Delhi as well as the Embassies of The Netherlands and Luxembourg". MTCR membership will enable India to buy high-end missile technology and also enhance its joint ventures with Russia. The release added that India’s entry into the regime as its 35th member would be mutually beneficial in the furtherance of international non-proliferation objectives.
