Rajya Sabha approves Lokpal Bill

 

Around two years after Anna Hazare fight for Janlokpal Bill, UPA government takes initiative to table the bill in the Parliament and the bill was passed by Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. The bill may come before Lok Sabha tomorrow. Congress is expecting all the members of the house will definitely vote for the bill. However, Samajwadi party led by Mulayam Singh is opposing the bill in its present form. It is suggesting some changes to the bill. However, Congress managers are trying to convince Samajwadi Chief to vote for the bill.

 

Anna Hazare, who resumed his fasting one week ago for the bill thanked the members of Rajya Sabha for passing the bill. He said however he will continue his fasting until Lok Sabha also approves the bill. Speaking to media he said, “I hope Lok Sabha also passes the bill. Although, we can’t expect the bill will completes wipes off the corruption from government offices, even if it cleans at least 40-50 per cent corruption, people of the country will get its benefits.”
