I am sorry can’t attend Kalam’s funerals: Jayalalita

Tamilnadu Chief Minister Jayalalita is expected to be the first person to attend former President of India Abdul Kalam’s funerals to be held at Rameswaram in Tamilnadu state on Thursday morning, because he is from Tamilnadu state and a noble person who earns respects from all over the world. But, Jayalalita informed that she couldn’t attend his funerals due to ill health.

She said that Minister Panneer Selwam and some others from her cabinet will attend the ceremony tomorrow on her behalf. However, she or the Tamilnadu state government has not disclosed what her health problem is. It may provide an opportunity to DMK, the main opposition party in the state to politicize her absence and gain political mileage. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several union ministers, Chief Ministers of several states including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will attend his funerals at Rameswaram tomorrow.
