Pilot mistook road for runway..!

It has come to light in media today that an IndiGo airlines pilot mistook a road running parallel to the Jaipur airport as the runway while landing on February 27, 2016. The Ahmedabad-Jaipur flight was hardly 900 feet, or less than 1 and half minutes, away from touchdown when the enhanced ground proximity warning system blared in the cockpit. The alarms prompted the pilots to pull up barely a few hundred feet from the ground. The airline has stated that the pilots were taken off duty and that the safety of the crew and the passengers is of top priority to the airlines.
