Mumbai crime branch police have searched the house of Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of BCCI president and CSK team owner N.Srinivasan, located at the posh Cenotaph Road in Chennai on Thursday around 2pm. His name was surfaced during the interrogation of Bollywood actor Vindu Dara Singh in the IPL spot fixing charges. Gurunath is principle of Chennai Super Kings team. The four member Mumbai crime branch police team was assisted by the special ‘Q’ team officials of Chennai police department.
However, they have found Gurunath went underground soon after his name flashed in TV channels across the country. Hence, the team headed by Nandkumar Gopale has handed over summons to a manager of the Chennai Super Kings team at their Chennai office and also pasted a notice asking Gurunath to attend before them at their Mumbai office by Friday evening without fail.
Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Himanshu Roy, who is directing the probe in the scam, has told the media that "We are hopeful that Meiyappan will cooperate with the police. In case he fails to show up within the allotted time, there are procedures in law to ensure his availability, but it would not augur well."
BCCI president Srinivasan is not available for any comments in this regard.
