Clashes in Golden Temple

There was a clash between a group of radical sikh fundamentalists and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) inside the Golden Temple complex at Amritsar. Twelve people including a child were hurt in these clashes which was the result of a clash because a radical group had shouted pro Khalisthan slogans and brandishing swords and other weapons. The SGPC stopped them from entering the temple and both the sides were seen chasing each other with weapons. They had come to participate in the 30th anniversary of Operation Blue Star , which happened in June 1984 as per Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s orders to flush out the Bhindranwale terrorists who laid siege to the Golden temple. There were no uniformed police personnel present inside the Gurudwara to intervene or prevent the clashes. Situation is tense but under control with Senior Police officials who had come in later.
