Rahul can’t be declared as PM candidate: Digvijay

AICC member Digvijay Singh in his latest interview given to media has said “Congress party has no tradition of announcing its Prime Ministerial or CM candidates ahead of the elections. Hence, the party doesn’t want to announce Rahul Gandhi’s name as its Prime Ministerial candidate. We are not bothered about who will be BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate. Whether it is Narendra Modi or some else it makes no difference for us.”

Earlier, Digvijay Singh has given a call for the party asking to avert dual power centers in the party and government. He said it is creating a lot of confusion among the party and the government about whom to report and who to take the crucial decisions. He demands to empower Rahul Gandhi to handle party and the government as its sole chief, with which everything will go smooth. He also gives an impression that Rahul Gandhi will be the party Prime Ministerial candidate. Later, the party high command has made him calm over this demand by stating there is no need to change the present system as the smooth running of UPA government is itself stands testimony for the success of dual power centers system.

Hence, the major change in his stand over who will be the party prime ministerial Candidate indicates that Rahul Gandhi is not keen to enter into Dr.Manmohan Singh shoes after the next general elections, though Dr.Singh is ready to vacate seat for him.
