Dhoni To Receive Padma Bhushan

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who led the Indian Cricket team to two World Cups, will be conferred with the Padma Bhushan award on Republic Day at the Rashtrapati Bhavan as the government of India cleared his name in the sports category. Dhoni is country’s most successful skipper across all three formats had led India in 60 Tests, winning a record 27 of them.

 

Dhoni’s name for the award was recommended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Dhoni previously won the Padma Shri in 2009. In 2007, he was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award by the Sports Ministry.

 

Dhoni will receive the Padma Bhushan award along with Rio Olympics silver medalist PV Sindhu and chief national badminton coach, Pullela Gopichand.
