BJP gets hold over Muzaffarnagar

In what is seem to be a major setback for the ruling Samajwadi party, the by elections in Uttar Pradesh has gone in favour of the opposition. The ruling party has lost 2 seats out of 3 seats in the by elections. The numbers might look normal, but many political analysts were viewing this as a hint about the future. These results might represent the mood of the people, as the state is going for the assembly polls in 2017. The result of by election in Muzaffarnagar proved to be surprising even to the critics. Three years ago, the sectarian riots have broke out in Muzaffarnagar leaving 60 people dead. Both BJP and Samajwadi party blames each other for instigating and encouraging those riots. Ever since the riots, Muzaffarnagar was seen to be highly sensitive and volatile. But after the demise of Chitranjan Swaroop, an MLA from Samajwadi party, Muzaffarnagar had to opt for by elections. Even the by elections here had to be held under the surveillance of six companies of Paramilitary forces. But the BJP candidate Kapil Deo has managed to be the badshah of Muzaffarnagar
