Can BJP and Shivsena afford to snap ties?

The up-coming Assembly elections of Maharashtra are straining the two decade relations of BJP and Shivsena parties as both parties differ on seat sharing. Shivsena has unilaterally decides to keep 153 seats for itself and offered 135 seats to BJP out of 288 seats. It believes that it deserve that much because it is the one that is going to help BJP to win the seats offered to it as BJP can’t win them on its own.

Shivsena has a strong reason for its arguments. It believes that BJP becomes very weak after the deaths of its two top leaders Pramodh Mahajan and Gopinath Munde, who are believed to be face of the party in Maharashtra. So, Shivsena suggests BJP to settle for 135 seats offered by it.

However, Union Minister Nithin Gadkari wants BJP snap its relations with Shivsena for emerging strong in the state. He believes that BJP need not to surrender to a regional party like Shivsena merely to get a handful of seats in addition. He seems to be convinced his party president Amit Shah with his arguments. So, although he was present around, he let Gadkari to hold the party meeting in Mumbai on Saturday that discussed about seat sharing, poll alliance with Shivsena party.

However, some common friends like Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana President Raju Shetty and Rashtriya Samaj Party President Mahadeo Jankar are trying to bridge the gap between the two parties. BJP and Shivsena may resolve their seat sharing issues definitely, otherwise they are aware that have pay to very dearly for it, because the ruling Congress party in Maharashtra will strive hard to retain power.
