CBI Attachment of Jagan Properties on Cards

The Kiran Kumar Reddy government on Thursday dealt yet another big blow to Jaganmohan Reddy by approving the attachment of three properties belonging to Jagan – Jagathi Publications that brings out Sakshi daily, Indira Television that brings out Sakshi channel and Janani Infra, their sister concern.     The files were signed by home minister P Sabita Indra Reddy and chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy late on Wednesday night following a letter written by the CBI authorities three days ago. And the approval came in the morning after taking the legal opinion. The relevant GOs would be issued any time. As per the orders, the management of these three companies can do their normal business, but would not be able to do any transactions on their properties: they can neither sell nor mortgage the properties. They cannot obtain loans nor can they induct any other partner in these companies. As the bank accounts are already frozen, there would be no flow of funds into their major accounts. It is more or less like one can stay in one’s house, but the lock and key would be with somebody else.

SRK Drunken Brawl at Wankhede Stadium

Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan had a drunken brawl at Wankhede stadium just after his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders posted a 32 run victory over Mumbai Indians team on Wednesday night. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials have lodged a police complaint against SRK for his alleged misbehaviour and decided to ban him for life from entering the premises. According to MCA treasurer Ravi Savant, SRK had an altercation with the security and officials of the association after the Knight Riders had swamped Mumbai Indians. "He misbehaved and abused the MCA security personnel as well as MCA officials, including our president Vilasrao Deshmukh, after the IPL match. We have decided to ban him for life from entering the stadium in future," said Savant, who alleged that the actor was in a totally inebriated state. Explaining the sequence that led to the incident, Savant told that Shah Rukh and his posse of bodyguards had gone up to the teams' dressing room and then come down and started to step on to the ground. "The MCA security personnel told them they cannot do so as the match was over which led to Shah Rukh abusing them as well as the MCA officials. There was manhandling too by his people. We have decided to ban him from all future matches at the stadium. We are also going to lodge a police complaint against him," said Savant. Asked whether MCA would lodge a complaint with the BCCI over one of the IPL team's owner's behaviour, Savant said all the altercation had taken place in the presence of IPL CEO Sundar Raman and BCCI's media manager Devendra Prabhudesai. The MCA is scheduled to have a managing committee meeting next week and would discuss the scandal.  

SSLC Results 2012 Karnataka 1pm Today

Karnataka SSLC Results: The Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Karnataka results for the year 2012 will be announced at 1 pm on Thursday. The Karnataka Board confirmed the news on their official website. Around 8.5 lakh students appeared for the SSLC examination.   The result will be available on the following websites: www.examresults.net, www.karnatakaeducation.net, http://results.KarnatakaEducation.net. Students can also access their results via SMS by sending RESULT KAR12 along with their registration number to 56263. Example: RESULT KAR12 222222. BSNL (Karnataka circle) will also provide the result through integrated voice response system (IVRS) to its landline, CDMA and mobile customers. Landline, CDMA and mobile customers can get SSLC results by dialing 1255225 from anywhere in Karnataka, a BSNL press release said on Wednesday. Landline and CDMA customers would be charged Re 1 per 20 seconds and mobile customers Rs 5 per minute, the release added. The pre-university (PU) examination results will be announced on May 23. About six lakh students appeared for the PU examination in 2012.

Jagan to Expose Political Witch Hunt on 28 May

Kadapa MP and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has earlier announced that he would attend the CBI court on 28 May. According to YSRC sources, a massive convoy is being planned from his residence to the CBI court on that day. The YSR Congress members feel that the CBI case is a political witch hunt and in order to expose this, Jagan will to go to the court with hundreds of supporters and party workers so that the people of the country can see for themselves as to how our leader is being victimized, a YSR Congress leader told. However, the sources didn't elaborate on the number of people being mobilized to rally behind Jagan, except hinting that it would be a huge number. As per the plans that are being put in place, Jagan will leave his Lotus Pond residence on the morning of May 28 for the court of principal special judge A Pullaiah in Nampally to appear in the assets case in which he is accused number one. "It is a distance of about 10 kms. We are still to decide whether he would proceed on foot or in a vehicular convoy," said the sources. However they hinted that the huge presence of the electronic media might force them to opt for the former.

Chiranjeevi to Woo Kapu Voters of Seemandhra

According to sources in Congress party, megastar turned politician Chiranjeevi would be out to woo the Kapu voters in the upcoming byelections. The Congress party has decided to depute Chiranjeevi for an intensive campaign in the key assembly constituencies where kapu voters are in large numbers. This would also to hit back at the vehement charge of YSRCP that the huge cache of cash found in Chiranjeevi’s daughter’s residence in Chennai was actually the money given by the ruling party for the merger of his Prajarajyam party. The Congress is of the view that the YSR Congress has unleashed the campaign against Chiranjeevi with the aim of preventing him from campaigning in the bypolls in the 17 assembly constituencies in the Seemandhra region many of which have a seizable number of Kapu voters. As per the plans finalized, the Rajya Sabha member will tour the constituencies starting from May 17. "The YSR Congress has only Jagan as crowd-puller. To counter him, the Congress will have Chiranjeevi, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana, as well as some central leaders campaigning for the bypolls," Congress sources said. According to the party program, Chiranjeevi will commence his campaign from Udayagiri in Nellore district on May 17. From there, he will visit Rayadurgam (May 21), Ongole (May 23), Narasannapet (May 25), Payakaraopeta (May 26), Narsapuram (June 1), Polavaram and Ramachandrapuram (June 2), Allagadda, Yemmiganur (June 4 and 5) and Nellore parliamentary constituency (June 6). In another development, party president Sonia Gandhi’s envoy Vayalar will launch the Congress campaign from Anantapur. He will launch his campaign at Rayadurg on May 17. After that he is expected to visit Guntur district to campaign in Macherla and Prathipadu.  

Tejdeep Episode: Rift Widens Between IPS, IAS

Amidst high drama and passions late on Tuesday evening at the Secretariat, additional director general of police Tejdeep Kaur Menon barged into the chambers of chief secretary Pankaj Dwivedi. She wanted to know why her name had been deleted from the list of police officers recommended for the award of Indian Police Medal (IPM) by the state government. Earlier her name was held back by the recommendations committee in a meeting chaired by Pankaj Dwivedi as there was an inquiry against her by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for her actions in the legal metrology department a few years back. Though the state police chief DGP Dinesh Reddy had said at the meeting that there was no record whatsoever to suggest that an inquiry had ever been instituted against Tejdeep, yet her name was not forwarded. Now the CS, confronted by Tejdeep has called for detailed records to check whether the lady cop's name was there on the list of those being investigated by the ACB. This isn't the first instance of IPS complaint against Pankaj Dwivedi. There is a disquiet in the IPS ranks for the perceived stepmotherly treatment by the civil bureaucracy. Cops are miffed as the IPS officers have not been getting timely promotions while IAS officers are not denied the same. The IPS lobby has a perpetual grouse at the treatment meted out to them by the IAS lobby, they feel that they are getting a raw deal under the present dispensation. However, when asked, Tejdeep downplayed the incident, "Yes I had called on the chief secretary. Our meeting was cordial and the chief secretary was very kind. He told me that my citation for the award had come late and so my case was not taken up," she told.

The CBSE Xth and XIIth Board examinations' results, 2012, will be declared any time now and here are some of the websites which students can visit to know how they have fared. The official CBSE website, http://cbseresults.nic.in/, powered by the national informatics centre, will put the results up but increased traffic may lead to its unavailability. In that case, students can visit http://www.cbseresults2012.com/ and http://cbseresults2012.co.in/, http://results.classontheweb.com/ are some other websites students can log on to. Another website, http://cbse.examresults.net/, has a service by which you can get your results via e-mail once you are registered on the portal. The results were widely expected to be declared on May 16 though an official CBSE communication had just stated that the results would be declared in the third week of May. KCR, Kodandaram Fighting For Booty: Narasimhulu

Senior TDP leader from Telangana region, Mothkupalli Narasimhulu on Tuesday said that TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and JAC convenor Prof. Kodandaram are fighting over their shares in the money they made in the name of separate Telangana state. Narasimhulu accused KCR and Kodandaram for mortgaging the T-movement to UPA chairperson Smt Sonia Gandhi. He said that the duo has made thousands of crores of rupees by diluting agitation and now they are fighting with each other because of the dispute that arised in sharing the booty. He said that KCR has taken the lives of seven hundred innocent people in the name of Telangana. KCR is trying to sell off Parkal assembly seat to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Narasimhulu demanded that Kodandaram should answer to the people of Telangana, why he has blindly supported KCR all these days and why he has started supporting BJP now.

CBI Files FIR Against Yeddyurappa in illegal Mining

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR against former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa in connection with the illegal mining case.   "The investigating agency filed an FIR in the case today against Yeddyurappa, his two sons and son-in-law. Yeddyurappa had earlier on Monday blamed Chief Minister Sadananada Gowda and party general secretary Ananth Kumar for the present political turmoil in the state, and claimed to have the support of 70 MLAs. Yeddyurappa also alleged that Members of the Legislative Assembly who are close to him are being targeted. He also announced that he had deferred taking a decision on resigning from the party and the Assembly.  

Chiranjeevi Too Evaded Income Tax: Gone Prakash Rao

Former APSRTC chairman Gone Prakash Rao on Tuesday alleged that former Megastar and Congress leader K Chiranjeevi has evaded income tax to the tune of hundreds of crores of rupees. Prakash Rao also alleged that Chiranjeevi nad his family amassed properites worth thousands of crores through clandestine businesses. Even though he and his family members are receiving crores of rupees as remuneration for films, they are not showing proper accounts for the same. When Chiranjeevi and his family are working and staying in Hyderabad why they are paying income tax at Chennai, he questioned.

Stop Trial in Jagan Illegal Assets Case: Vijay Sai Reddy

Auditor Vijay Sai Reddy on Tuesday filed a petition before the CBI Special Court in Jagan Mohan Reddy's disproportionate assets case. He sought the court to withhold the trial of the case till CBI completes its probe in to the case. The petitioner, Vijay Sai Reddy contended that it is unlawful to file number of chargesheets in a single case. He also said that the trial of the case under first chargesheet can not be taken up till the probe hasn't been completed by the investigation agency. It is also not proper to issue number of summons and chargesheets in a single case. Hence the petitioner Vijay Sai Reddy sought cancellation of summons issued in the first chargesheet.  

Actress Rekha Takes Oath as Rajya Sabha MP

Veteran film actor Rekha Tuesday took oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha.The actor, who was April 27 nominated by the president to the upper house, also met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh before taking oath.   A leading actress of the Hindi film industry in the 1970s and 1980s, Rekha took her oath in English. Wearing a golden silk sari, she sat in the upper house till halfway through question hour. Rekha was nominated to the upper house along with social worker Anu Aga and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. While Aga was sworn in Sunday during a special sitting of parliament, Tendulkar is expected to take oath Wednesday, according to sources.

2-G Scam: A Raja Bail to be Decided Today

Special CBI Judge O P Saini had on May 11 reserved his order on Mr. Raja’s bail plea for Tuesday (today) after hearing arguments from the CBI and counsel for the DMK MP. The former Telecom Minister A Raja was arrested on February 2 last year and is facing trial in the 2G spectrum allocation case. Mr. Raja has sought bail on the ground of parity with other 13 co-accused who have already secured it from the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court and the trial court. In his bail plea, Mr. Raja had said that case against him is “false and fabricated” and “not sustainable in law.” He sought bail saying the Supreme Court, while granting bail to former Telecom Secretary Sidharth Behura, had not distinguished the case of public servant with others. Mr. Raja’s counsel had also said that he and Mr. Behura are facing similar charges of abatement, conspiracy and criminal breach of trust. The CBI had vehemently opposed Mr. Raja’s bail saying he cannot be released on the ground of parity as the charges levelled against him are of serious nature. During the probe, it has come to light that Mr. Raja and others received bribe of another Rs 200 crore in connection with the spectrum scam, it said. The CBI prosecutor had raised questions on Mr. Raja’s alleged links with Mauritius-based Delphi Investment Ltd, in which Reliance Telecom Ltd had allegedly transferred its shares and said if released on bail at this stage, he might tamper with the evidence.  

Nepal Air Crash: Child Artist Taruni Dies, 2 Others Survive

A Dornier aircraft that flew from the resort town of Pokhara crashed in northern Nepal after hitting a hilltop while attempting to land at high-altitude Jomsom airport on Monday. Thirteen Indians were among 15 people killed and two young South Indian girls survived. The girls aged 6 and 9 were among three Indian survivors of the crash in which the Dronier aircraft got buried after hitting a mountain peak straddling the airport. There were 21 people in the 20-seater plane with 16 Indians, two Danish nationals and 3 crew members Six people on board, including three Indians, an air hostess and two Danish nationals have been rescued from the crash site. They include Tirumala Kidambi Sreekanth, Tirumala Kidambi Sreevardhini (9) and Tirumala Kidambi Sreepada (6), who are being treated at Manipal Hospital, Pokhara. "The girls are conscious and out of danger," Indian embassy spokesperson said. "Come here and take us from here," the two girls have pleaded to their uncle, K Srinivasan, in Chennai. They do not know that their mother S Latha has died in the same accident and their father T K Srikanth, is lying unconscious in Manipal Hospital. While these two lucky girls survived, it is very sad to note that Child artiste Taruni Sachdev, who played the role of Amitabh Bachchan or Auro's friend in National Award winning film Paa, died in the crash. Taruni, who became famous as the Rasna girl, was on the flight with her mother Geetha Sachdev. Besides Paa, Taruni also appeared in two Malayam films, Vellinakshatram (2004) and Sathyam (2004) with Prithviraj and Priyamani. She also appeared on Shah Rukh Khan's reality quiz show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?

CBI Court Dismisses Sakshi's Plea

A special CBI court dismissed a petition challenging freezing of the bank accounts of companies run by Kadapa MP, Mr Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy in the illegal assets case on Monday. The petition was filed by Jagati Publications which publishes Sakshi daily. Last week, the CBI froze the bank accounts of Jagati Publications, Indira Television (Sakshi TV) and Janani Infra in various banks, including State Bank of India and Oriental Bank of Commerce. Earlier, the court had also summoned Mr Reddy to appear before it on May 28 along with 12 others who were named in the three chargesheets filed by the CBI in the case.

Bravo Wins Last Ball Thriller For Chennai

Dwayne Bravo struck a last ball six as titleholders Chennai Super Kings scraped past the Kolkata Knight Riders by five wickets in a nail-biting Indian Premier League contest at the Eden Gardens here Monday to brighten their chances of a play-off place.     Replying to the Knight Riders' 158/6, the Super Kings needed five off the last ball. But West Indies all-rounder Dwyane Bravo (11 not out; 7 b, 1x6) held his nerves to dispatch a low full toss from Rajat Bhatia over the long on fence as the visitors reached 160/5 and silence descended at the Eden Gardens. The Super Kings had a cracker of a start, with man of the match Mike Hussey (56; 39 b, 4x4, 4x6) and Murali Vijay (36; 24 b, 5x4, 1x6) mercilessly belting the Knight Riders' bowlers during a 97-run opening wicket stand off only 9.2 overs. Earlier, put in to bat, Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir blasted his eighth half century of the tournament, but the home side failed to follow up on an explosive start. Gambhir (62; 43 b, 4x6, 3x6) and Brendon McCullum (37; 29 b, 4X4, 1X6) launched the Knights' innings on a high rampaging a 69-ball 99, but loss of quick wickets led to a drop in the run rate as the Super Kings were set an asking rate of 7.95 runs per over. 15 Died in Nepal Plane Crash

An Agni Air plane carrying Indian and Danish tourists crashed into a hill near a mountain airport in Nepal on Monday, killing 15 people, including the two pilots.   Six people, including the flight attendant and two children, survived, said Yogendra Kunwar, an air traffic controller at the Pokhara Airport in western Nepal where the plane was diverted after aborting a landing at the airport in Jomson, a hub for religious pilgrims and trekkers. "The survivors are out of danger," Mr. Kunwar said after they were airlifted to Pokhara, about 125 miles from Katmandu. Just before the crash, the captain, Prabhu Sharan Pathak, had told the Pokhara airport that the two-engine Dornier plane was experiencing technical problems and he did not want to land as scheduled at Jomson because it lacked adequate facilities for an emergency landing. "The pilots were then asked to return to the Pokhara airport where the facilities were better for an emergency landing," said Mr. Kunwar. It was the second Agni Air crash in two years. In August 2010, one of its planes crashed in the Everest region, killing 14 people, including four Americans.

35 Crores Cash Found In Chiru Daughter's Home

Income-tax officials in Chennai conducted raids on Sushmita, daughter of Chiranjeevi. The Income Tax department raided the house on Friday and Saturday. Today, officials confirmed that "Cash was found neatly packed in 35 carton boxes with each containing Rs. 1 crore in denominations of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000." The money has been handed over to the Reserve Bank of India today.

Chiranjeevi Son-in-law in YSR Congress?

Chiranjeevi is gearing for the forthcoming by-elections. Son-in-law Sirish Bharadwaj is not far behind. He is all set to join Jagan's YSR Congress. Our sources revealed that YV Subba Reddy, close relative of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is holding talks with Sirish.   Sirish Bhardwaj married Chiranjeevi's daughter Sreeja after much drama a couple of years ago. Now they are separated. Sreeja filed a case against him on the grounds of dowry harassment. Sirish is hitting back with vengeance at the Chiru family, by joining YSR Congress. When asked Sirish about this he said that he met Subba Reddy to seek blessing on his birthday and there was nothing political about it.
