Senior IAS reveals the Truth of YSR Govt.

Senior IAS officer Tishyaralshit Chataterjee told CBI that The Engineers and higher authorities were the recipients of verbal scoldings by political bosses in the congress government headed by late YSRif any one of them raised quiries regarding the stature of the work. Chataterjee is currently working as the secretery of the ministry environment and forests. Chatterjee also told the CBI that MGVK Bhanu, the then special secretary to CM handling R&B subject, used to often do the follow up work on issues relating to contracts of infrastructure nature with him over phone and personally. The CBI recorded the statements of Chatterjee and another IAS officer Rajiv Ranjan Mishra who has been with the irrigation department as its secretary from April 2006 entrusted with the job of looking after the progress of construction of irrigation projects in Rayala seema region and also Prakasam and Nellore districts. The probe agency was trying to arrive at a conclusion as to why disgraced Satyam founder Ramalinga raju choose to invest Rs 20 crore in Jagan firms and in the process came across a road work near Gandikota reservoir in Kadapa which was entrusted to Raju's Maytas Infra on a nomination basis. Both the officials deposed before the CBI that the road work worth Rs 120 crore was first entrusted to Maytas in December 2008. But within less than a month from then, Raju confessed to his fudging crime and went to jail. It was then that the officials referred the matter to the council of ministers for its approval of the same after reducing the value of the project to Rs 90 crore. Since YSR intervened and wrote on the file that the work was entrusted to Maytas infra.

Mitt Romney Rules TV Debate

Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney scored an important psychological victory over President Barack Obama in their first debate, putting the incumbent on the defensive over the weak economy and high unemployment rate.   A listless Mr Obama failed to counter-attack effectively on most occasions. More surprisingly, he did not capitalise on Mr Romney's recent vulnerabilities, such as the secretly-taped remarks of him disparaging 47 per cent of voters as "victims'' who depend excessively on the government. Snap polls by several media organisations such as CNN and CBS pointed to a clear and convincing win for Mr Romney following the 90-minute debate in Denver, Colorado. The two candidates will meet for two more debates later this month, while their running mates will face-off in a similar fashion next Friday. While he gave no new policy details and independent fact-checkers faulted him for repeating false claims on healthcare and tax policies, Mr Romney generally gave crisper answers and frequently connected his responses to the plight of ordinary Americans struggling to make ends meet.   On the question of how he would create new jobs, Mr Romney began by recounting the plight of a woman in Denver who approached his wife Ann for help after she had to give up the family home and her husband lost four part-time jobs in three years. "The answer is, yes, we can help, but it's going to take a different path, not the one we've been on," said Mr Romney before launching into a short summary of his five-point plan to revive the economy. This involved greater energy independence, opening up more trade with Latin America, upgrading workers' skills and education, balancing the budget, and promoting small businesses. One of the President's more effective jabs came towards the end of the debate, when he criticised Mr Romney for being unwilling to "say no to some of the more extreme parts of his party''. But that was largely lost in Mr Obama's frequent forays into detailed and tedious explanations of his own administration's record on healthcare and financial reforms.

T20 World Cup 2012: Australia vs India

India Australia: India are likely to go in with five specialist bowlers to plug their bowling loopholes when they take on the mighty Australians in its opening `Super Eight` fixture of the ICC World Twenty20 on Friday.     Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has given clear indications that he would go in with five specialist bowlers, a move which will mean that India will have one batsman short. In that case, either opener Virender Sehwag or Yuvraj Singh may have to sit out of the match and Dhoni admitted that it would be a "tough decision". It will be interesting to see what bowling combination Dhoni would prefer for the first `super eight` game and whether he would opt for three spinners or three pacers.   The two key batsmen in the Australian set-up are left-handers David Warner and Mike Hussey. The presence of the duo at the top of the order certainly means that Harbhajan`s inclusion is necessary because of his stupendous record against the left-handers. The batting, however, bears a much more settled look with the good news being that Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma are back among runs. The only thing to worry will be Yuvraj Singh`s place in batting order. The talented left-hander has been struggling with the bat. Although the 22-yard strip at the R Premadasa Stadium will assist the slower bowlers, the Aussie fast bowlers are likely to test the Indian batsman with short-pitched stuff.   The Indian team was seen preparing to counter the bouncers and the players were seen playing the horizontal bat shot during the nets. The main threat for India will be all-rounder Shane Watson who in prime form having won back-to-back MoM awards. The Indian batsmen will need to be careful against Watson. Left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc can prove to be a handful but it will be chinaman bowler Brad Hogg who will need to play a big role. The only problem for Australia will be its middle-order which hasn`t been tested in the two matches which were single-handedly won by Watson. The all-rounder has taken full advantage of the Powerplay overs to slaughter the bowlers. With Warner and Hussey for company, the `terrific trio` make up for a superb top-order.

India Beat England by 90 Runs

India Beat England, India beat England by 90 runs in their Group A match in the ICC World Cup T20 series today at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. England were all out for 20 runs 14.4 overs. Earlier, under-fire Rohit Sharma hit a superb unbeaten half century while Gautam Gambhir also found some form as India posted a challenging 170 for four against England in their final group league encounter.     Promoted to number four, Rohit finally came good in an international match as he planned his innings to perfection, hitting 55 not out off 33 balls with five fours and a slashed six off Jade Dernbach. An upper-cut off England captain Stuart Broad was also a treat to watch as the Mumbai youngster finally repaid the faith shown by his skipper who persisted with him despite repeated failures. Gambhir also scored an useful 45 off 38 balls, hitting five boundaries in the process as the Indian side which have six specialist batsmen did admirably well against the English pace quartet. The four-pronged pace attack of Broad, Tim Bresnan, Steven Finn and Dernbach used the short ball liberally to test Gambhir but he played the horizontal bat shot with a lot of control. In-form Virat Kohli looked good during is 32-ball-40 as he set the tempo with a fluent knock. The unlikely bowling hero for England turned out to be Graeme Swann who gave away only 17 runs in his four overs. Gambhir started with a pull shot off Jade Dernbach and then steered the bowler past third man region for consecutive boundaries. Trying to find some form, the two shots worked wonder for the senior opener. Dhoni's gamble to open with Irfan Pathan in place of an injured Virender Sehwag flopped as the left-hander could only manage eight runs before a delivery from Steven Finn held its line after pitching and, in the process, knocked down the off-stump.
