Woofing price for Ram Charan’s Thoofan rights
Mega power star Ram Charan Tej’s forthcoming bilingual film ‘Thoofan’ which is releasing as ‘Zanjeer’ in Hindi is a remake of yesteryear Hindi film with same title played by Amitabh Bachchan. Bollywood top heroine Priyanka Chopra is playing female lead in this film. Apoorva Lakia has directed this movie.
The high expectations on the film have brings a whooping offer the Telugu version Thoofan film. According to sources the film Thoofan has pocketed Rs.50 crores for its all India rights, which is a new record in Telugu film industry. Earlier Ram Charan’s ‘Rachcha’ movie got Rs.40 crores and his next movie ‘Nayak’ pockets Rs.46 crores. Now, his Thoofan breaks his own records by collecting Rs.50 crores.
Still, there are overseas rights to be sold for both the versions, which have a very heavy competition. If, it could fetch even half the amount or more, then the producers had their investment back into their pockets even before the film is released. This amazing mega response to Cherry’s film may inspire several other producers of Bollywood to queue-up before Tollywood, which may open new venues to all the other stars of the Telugu film industry.
Both versions of his film are slated to release on June 14th. As per the latest inputs from industry sources, Thoofan will release in 1,000 theaters and ‘Zanjeer’ will release in 200 theaters across the state including some parts in neighboring Maharashtra state.
