Court Orders to Book Minister Shankar Rao For Forgery

State textiles minister P Shankar Rai is again in trouble. Based on a petition filed by a plot owners’ association in the city, a local court on Wednesday directed the Neredmet police to book a criminal case against the minister.

The direction came on a petition filed in Oct 2011 by S Chandrasekhar of Green Fields plot owners association in the X Metropolitan Magistrate, Malkajgiri, alleging that the minister had misused his position to grab 72 acres (Survey No.: 373, 375, 376, 378, 379 and 386) in Kanajiguda village in Malkajgiri mandal by forging documents to claim that it belonged to his father Yedla Achaiah.

The minister has been booked under IPC sections 120-B (Criminal conspiracy), 197(Knowingly issuing a false certificate), 420 (Cheating), 468 (Forgery for cheating), 471 (Using as genuine a forged document) and 506 (Criminal intimidation). When contacted, Neredmet inspector Venkat Reddy said they were yet to receive the court order.
