Ex-Cricketer resigns from RS;To join AAP

In a twist to the tale of elections in Punjab, Ex-cricketer and BJP member who was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the party has given his resignation to the chairman of Rajya Sabha. According to sources he would also be quitting the party membership as well and is soon to join Aam Aadmi Party for the upcoming elections in Punjab.
"Navjot Singh Sidhu, nominated member, resigns from Rajya Sabha," Gurdeep Singh Sappal, OSD to the Vice President Hamid Ansari said in a tweet. The resignation letter has been addressed to Ansari, who is chairman of the Rajya Sabha, official sources said, adding he is likely to accept the resignation. His wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who is also a senior BJP leader and a member of Punjab Legislative Assembly, is also said to have resigned as Chief Parliamentary Secretary Health in Punjab. He was nominated to Rajya Sabha under the distinguished personalities quota and took oath on April 28, 2016.
