An interesting debate on bifurcation of the state has taken place in the Parliament today. Out of several members, who spoke today in the house, CPM leader Sitaram Yechuri has made a very impressive speech today.
He asked the speaker of the house, “Why was the Telangana issue was set aside all these years, when the constitution was amended 40 years ago for creation of Telangana state? None of the governments ruled the country until now has shown any interest to resolve this burning issue amicably. Our party has been repeatedly telling the government not to divide the state as it would be stirring the devil’s nest. But, Congress has gone ahead without thinking about the consequences, and the country is now seeing the adverse affects of its decision. Several separate state demands are emerging from different parts of the country."
He said "When the Congress has made-up its mind on bifurcation four years ago, then what homework it did all these years? Even it couldn’t convince its CM and his deputy who are differing with each other on this issue. Congress lets its Telangana and Seemandhra leaders speak against each other and rage the people with their provocative speeches and statements."
"Congress should handle the matter more carefully taking everyone into its consideration or else the result will be disastrous. I request the government not play with sentiments of the people of both regions. Congress should realize that it is just like playing with fire. We are proud to say that it is our CPM party, which alone firmly opposed the division of the state for the sake of people and the country. And we are proved right,” said Yechuri.
