Shirdi airport to start operations from October

 

In a great news to pilgrims who travel to Shirdi Sai temple, the Maharashtra government is planning to operationalise the Greenfield Shirdi airport by this October. Maharashtra Airport Development Authority managing director Vishwas Patil said, "The process of getting permission from various departments is in the final stage. It was discussed during a meeting where the CM said he will send an invite to the Prime Minister for the inauguration". He also added, "So far, Rs 225 crore have been spent and work worth Rs 100 crore are still pending.

 

The airport is being set up on 900 acres land having with a runway of 2,500 metres length, which is likely to be extended to 3,200 metres. Other work like parking bay, taxi-bay, lighting have been completed. The airport will start functioning soon begin", his will allow operation of scheduled flights for devotees who will throng the temple town located in Ahmednagar district for the Sai Baba Samadhi Centenary Utsav in 2017-18.
