S Dhanya, a 23-year-old old woman was hacked to death at her house in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore on Wednesday night allegedly by a man whose overtones she had turned down. According to the police, her parents had gone out when a boy who was reportedly stalking her committed the crime. Special teams are on the lookout for the accused. According to a report, Dhanya, who was already engaged to be married, was alone at home when one Zahir allegedly entered through the backdoor of the house and attacked her with a sickle after she spurned his advances.
Zahir then allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison after killing Dhanya. He has been admitted to an ICU ward of a hospital in Palakkad, said the report. The distraught parents told the police that Dhanya was constantly being pestered by a 27-year-old man named Zakir. When police enquired about the said person, they found him in an unconscious position. Police immediately rushed him to the hospital where he is currently being treated.
Dhanya's parents got her engaged to a youth from Kerala and the marriage was to be solemnised in October. It is learnt that Wednesday being a holiday for Onam, Dhanya’s fiancé had come to see her and they went to a nearby temple and returned home. Later that day, Dhanya’s father took ill and her parents left her in the house and went to a hospital. On returning home around 7 p.m. they were shocked to see Dhanya dead. Months ago, a Tamil Nadu man hacked to death an Infosys techie in broad daylight after she repeatedly spurned his proposals.
