Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh Passes away

National Award-winning Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh, who gave us movies like 'Choker Bali' and 'Raincoat', succumbed to a massive heart attack around 7.30 am today in Kolkata. He was 49. Rituparno was born on August 31, 1963, in Kolkata. His father was a well-known documentary film-maker.
He began his career in advertising, and made his directorial debut in 1992 with a low-key children's feature film titled 'Hirer Angti' (The Diamond Ring).His second movie 'Unishe April' (19 April), won the 1995 National FilmAward. Since then, Ghosh has directed 'Dahan', 'Utsab', 'Chokher Bali', 'Asukh', 'Bariwali', 'Antarmahal' and 'Raincoat' (in Hindi).
With 19 movies and 12 National Awards to his credit, the maverick director was a trail-blazer in the world of Indian cinema.
