Kejriwal's ex-aide Rajendra Kumar gets bail

Aam Aadmi Party can heave a sigh of relief. With cases being registered quite regularly against the members of the party, there seems to be a sense of gloom in the party. The Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's principal secretary Rajendra Kumar on Tuesday got bail from a trial court in a corruption case. Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar gave the relief to Rajendra Kumar on furnishing of a personal bond of Rs one lakh. According to CBI, the five accused were allegedly showing undue favours to private firm ESPL which the agency alleged was floated by Kumar for the award of government contracts worth over Rs 50 crore.

CBI had registered a case against Kumar and others in December last year alleging that the officer had abused his official position by "favouring a particular firm in the last few years in getting tenders of Delhi government departments". "We have evidence that even till today, they (accused) are threatening the witnesses,"CBI had said, adding that Kumar's presence outside will create an intimidating atmosphere for the witnesses. CBI had also said that the investigation is at a "crucial" stage and the money trail is being probed.
